Turar Ryskulov District
Turar Ryskulov ( kk, Тұрар Рысқұлов ауданы, ) is a district of Jambyl Region in south-eastern Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the district is auyl of Kulan. History By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kaz. USSR dated March 4, 1938, Lugovsky district was separated from Merki District. At that time there were 27 collective farms and 2 state farms. They were united into 10 aul districts. Initially, there were 8 2662 hectares of farmland. Cereals were located on an area of 13 464 hectares, beets on 960 hectares and cotton on 1 550 hectares. In Soviet times, grain crops increased to 130 thousand hectares. In 1954, three virgin state farms were established in the steppes of Abulkair and Koragata. And today's corporation "Podgorny", LLP "Koragaty" and "Akbulak" were also organized by the forces of pervotselinniki. Jambyl Region
Jambyl or Zhambyl Region ( kk, Жамбыл облысы, translit=Jambyl oblysy; russian: Жамбылская область, Zhambylskaya oblast), formerly known as Dzhambul Region (russian: Джамбульская область, Dzhambulskaya Oblast) until 1991, is a region of Kazakhstan. Its capital is Taraz. The population of the region is 1,000,000; the city is 335,100. The region borders Kyrgyzstan, and is very near to Uzbekistan (all to the south). Kulan, Kazakhstan
Kulan ( kk, Құлан, ''Qūlan''), named Lugovoe (Russian language, Russian: Луговое) until 1992, is a small town that is the administrative centre of the Turar Ryskulov District of the Jambyl Region of Kazakhstan. The train station in Kulan is located along the route that connects Taraz, Bishkek and Shu. On 23 May 2003, Kulan was at the epicentre of an earthquake that was estimated at 6.5–7.0 on the Richter scale.
