Tunkwa Provincial Park
Tunkwa Provincial Park (sometimes known as Tunkwa Lake Park) is a provincial park on the northern Thompson Plateau in south central British Columbia, Canada. The locality is by road about north of Logan Lake and south of Savona. Established in 1996 on the Tunkwa Lake Road, the park encompasses the man-made Tunkwa Lake and Leighton Lake. This year-round recreational area offers trout fishing, horseback riding, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling. Logan Lake is a district municipality in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. History It was founded in the 1960s and 1970s to support copper, molybdenum and other mineral mining operations located south of the town. Thompson Plateau
The Thompson Plateau forms the southern portion of the Interior Plateau of British Columbia, Canada, lying to the west of Okanagan Lake, south of the Thompson River and east of (although never adjoining it) the Fraser River. At its most southern point the plateau is squeezed by the mountainous terrain of the Cascade Range abutting closer to the Okanagan Valley. Savona, British Columbia
Savona (, originally Savona's Ferry) is a small community located at the west end of Kamloops Lake, where the Thompson River exits it. It is approximately halfway between Kamloops and Cache Creek along the Trans-Canada Highway. The countryside surrounding the community is semi-arid grasslands and hills, which support cattle ranching and agriculture. It has about 2000 hours of sunshine and less than 12 inches of precipitation a year. It has a population of approximately 650.
