Tullylease GAA
Tullylease GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Tullylease in the north-west of County Cork, Ireland which forms part of the parish of Milford, Freemount and Tullylease. The club plays in the Duhallow division and competes in both Hurling and Gaelic Football competitions. They currently compete at Junior B level. Tullylease won the Duhallow Junior A Hurling League in 2009 and the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship in 2008 ending a baron run of 47 years in which Tullylease had been runners-up ten times. Tullylease lost to Diarmuid Ó Mathúna's in the 2008 semifinal of the Cork Junior Hurling Championship. The Cork Junior B Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Junior B Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork JBHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the second tier junior clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the seventh tier overall in the entire Cork hurling championship system. The Cork Junior B Championship was introduced in 1984 as a countywide competition for "weaker" junior teams. Glenlara GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the rural area of Taur, Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic football in the Duhallow division competitions. Glenlara GAA Club was founded in 1939 by D.A. Daly, P.Shine and R O'Keeffe. Other clubs in the Glenlara area include Newmarket, Boherbue and Kiskeam. In recent years Glenlara GAA have established a permanent home at the old school in Glashykinleen which is central to Taur and Glenlara area. Duhallow Junior A Football Championship
The Duhallow Junior A Football Championship is the top footballing competition in the Duhallow division in Cork. It was first run after the formation of the Duhallow division in 1933. The Championship includes a group stage, therefore every team has at least 2 matches. The winners and runner up of this competition go on to compete in the Cork Junior A Football Championship. Cullen are the title-holders after defeating Kanturk by 4-16 to 1-02 in the 2022 championship final played in Boherbue. Format Group stage The 6 teams are divided into two groups of three. Over the course of the group stage, each team plays once against the others in the group, resulting in each team being guaranteed at least two games. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag.
