Tullamarine Football Club is an Australian rules football club is located 17 km north west of Melbourne in the suburb of Tullamarine and is affiliated with the Essendon District Football League. History Formed in 1974 and known as Essendon-Tullamarine after a merger between Essendon Baptist St John’s and Ascot Vale Presbyterians, Tullamarine was a success from the outset, with its five successive A Grade flags between 1975 and 1979 establishing an Essendon District Football League record which still stands. More recently, the club has enjoyed intermittent success. Essendon Baptist Saint John’s was a noteworthy presence in the EDFL for many years, winning a B Grade premiership in 1956, and an A Grade flag two seasons later. Among the club’s products were fourteen Essendon footballers including Ron Evans, Ted Fordham, Ken Fraser and Don McKenzie. Essendon District Football League
The Essendon District Football League (EDFL) is a professional Australian rules football league competition based in Essendon, Victoria, consisting of teams based in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne. Founded in 1930, the men's competition consists of three leagues: Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2, with 10 clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 nine in Division 2. Promotion and relegation between these divisions occurs, with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 being relegated at the end of each season. Clubs which win the Division 1 and Division 2 premierships are automatically promoted. Each men's team also fields a reserves side and an under-19 side that play a fixture mirroring that of the senior side. Since 2017, the League has also run a competition for women's Australian rules football. Ron Evans
Ronald Barry Evans AM (7 July 1939 – 9 March 2007) was an Australian rules footballer, Chairman of the Australian Football League (AFL) from 1998 to 2007, as well as President of the Essendon Football Club from 1988 to 1992. Education Evans was educated at Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne, where he was a classmate of linguist Michael Clyne, businessman Ron Walker, and 1960 Brownlow Medal winner John Schultz. Ted Fordham
Ted Fordham (born 3 May 1940) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was the VFL's leading goalkicker in the 1966 season. Debuting in 1961, Fordham played as a half-back flanker and follower during the early stages of his career. It was later in the 1964 season that he moved to full-forward, under the instruction of John Coleman. He helped Essendon win the premiership the following season with six goals in the preliminary final and then kicked a record-equalling seven goals in the grand final against St Kilda. Ken Fraser
Ken Fraser (born 17 February 1940) is a former Australian rules footballer in the (then) Victorian Football League (VFL). Originally recruited from the Essendon Baptists St John's club (which has since merged with Ascot Vale Presbyterians to become the Tullamarine Football Club) in the Essendon District Football League, Fraser mainly played at centre half-forward. He won the Essendon Football Club's Best First-Year Player award in 1958 and went on to play in two premiership teams, with the second premiership as captain. He also won two club best-and-fairest awards and represented Victoria on many occasions. In 2001, Fraser was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame. Don McKenzie (born 23 March 1939) is a former Australian rules footballer who played 266 senior games for the Essendon Bombers from 1960 to 1974. He played his first match in round 7 of the 1960 season, against Melbourne, at Essendon's home ground, Windy Hill. Talent An exceptionally talented "knock" ruckman (who would regularly punch the ball from the centre bounce to centre-half forward), with an extraordinarily high vertical leap.
