Tuborg Foundation
Carlsberg Foundation ( da, Carlsbergfondet) was founded by J. C. Jacobsen in 1876, by allocating some of his shares in the Carlsberg Brewery to fund and operate the Carlsberg Laboratory and the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Palace. The foundation has since expanded to fund scientific research, to manage the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, and via the Tuborg Foundation to fund social works. it owned 30.3% of the shares in Carlsberg Group and controlled 74.2% of the voting power. Carlsberg Laboratory
The Carlsberg Research Laboratory is a private scientific research center in Copenhagen, Denmark under the Carlsberg Group. It was founded in 1875 by J. C. Jacobsen, the founder of the Carlsberg brewery, with the purpose of advancing biochemical knowledge, especially relating to brewing. It featured a Department of Chemistry and a Department of Physiology. In 1972, the laboratory was renamed the Carlsberg Research Center and was transferred to the brewery. Dana Expeditions
The Dana expeditions were four Danish research expeditions undertaken by the ''Dana I'' and ''Dana'' ''II''. They were funded in part by the Carlsberg Foundation and led by Johannes Schmidt. The first three expeditions took place from 1920 to 1922 and the fourth and final was from 1928 to 1930. They centered around investigating the breeding of eels. The first two expeditions allowed Schmidt to prove his theory that European eels migrate to the Sargasso Sea to spawn. The final expedition traveled to the Indian Ocean and gathered numerous samples. The Indian Ocean is the third-largest of the world's five oceanic divisions, covering or ~19.8% of the water on Earth's surface. Carlsberg Ridge
The Carlsberg Ridge is the northern section of the Central Indian Ridge, a divergent tectonic plate boundary between the African Plate and the Indo-Australian Plate, traversing the western regions of the Indian Ocean. The ridge of which the Carlsberg Ridge is a part extends northward from a triple point junction near the island of Rodrigues (the Rodrigues Triple Point) to a junction with the Owen Fracture Zone. The ridge started its northwards propagation in the late Maastrichtian and reached the incipient Arabian Sea in the Eocene. Then it continued to accrete basalt but did not propagate for nearly 30 Ma. Then, in the early Miocene it started to propagate westwards towards the Afar hot spot, opening the Gulf of Aden. The Carlsberg Ridge is seismically active, with a major earthquake being recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey at 7.6 on the moment magnitude scale on July 15, 2003. Carlsberg Meridian Telescope
The Carlsberg Meridian Telescope (formerly the Carlsberg Automatic Meridian Circle) is a decommissioned meridian circle telescope located at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory in the Canary Islands. It was dedicated to high-precision optical astrometry and operated from May 1984 to September 2013. The CMT's 20 years of photometric data was studied to understand atmosphere extinction. Up to 2003, 11 catalogs were published and it had been given various upgrades since its installation in 1984. Georg Carl Amdrup
Vice Admiral Sir Georg Carl Amdrup (Copenhagen, Denmark, November 19, 1866 – Copenhagen, January 15, 1947), RN was a Danish naval officer, Vice Admiral and Greenland researcher. Career In 1884, Amdrup, of the Royal Danish Navy, was sent to Amassalik. After wintering, he explored the coast to the north, including an examination of the Kangerlussuaq Fjord, known until then only from Inuit reports. Carlsberg Fjord ( kl, Kangerterajitta Itterterilaq) is a fjord in King Christian X Land, eastern Greenland. Administratively it lies in the Sermersooq Municipality. History This fjord was first noted by British explorer William Scoresby (1789 – 1857), who assumed that it connected with Hurry Inlet to the south. It was first properly surveyed and mapped by Danish Arctic explorer Georg Carl Amdrup during the Carlsberg Foundation Expedition to East Greenland ''(Carlsbergfondet Expedition til Ost-Gronland)'' in 1898–1900.
