Tsushima Island
is an island of the Japanese archipelago situated in-between the Tsushima Strait and Korea Strait, approximately halfway between Kyushu and the Korean Peninsula. The main island of Tsushima, once a single island, was divided into two in 1671 by the Ōfunakoshiseto canal and into three in 1900 by the Manzekiseto canal. These canals were driven through isthmuses in the center of the island, forming "North Tsushima Island" ( Kamino-shima) and "South Tsushima Island" ( Shimono-shima). Keiko Tsushima
was a Japanese actress, whose real name was . She was notable for her prominent role in Akira Kurosawa's 1954 film ''Seven Samurai''. She also starred in Japanese television series such as ''Sakura'' and ''Kimi ga Jinsei no Toki''. Born in Nagasaki Prefecture, she married Ichio Mori, then director of Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), in 1957. She died of stomach cancer on 1 August 2012 at a hospital in Chuo, Tokyo, aged 86. The leopard cat (''Prionailurus bengalensis'') is a small wild cat native to continental South, Southeast, and East Asia. ''Ghost of Tsushima'' is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The player controls Jin Sakai, samurai on a quest to protect Tsushima Island during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. Yūji Tsushima
is a Japanese politician who served in the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature) as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. He was born in Tokyo Prefecture as Yuji Shima and adopted his mother's family name at age 3, becoming Yuji Ueno. He attended the University of Tokyo and passed the bar exam while still in college. In 1953, he joined the Ministry of Finance. During this time he attended Syracuse University in the United States as a part of the Fulbright Program. He worked in the Japanese Embassy in Paris from 1963 to 1967. While stationed in Paris, he adopted the Tsushima family name upon his marriage to Sonoko Tsushima, the daughter of writer Osamu Dazai (Shuji Tsushima) and niece of politician Bunji Tsushima. Satoko Tsushima (30 March 1947 – 18 February 2016), known by her pen name Yūko Tsushima (津島 佑子 ''Tsushima Yūko''), was a Japanese fiction writer, essayist and critic.
