Tsuen Wan Plaza
Tsuen Wan Plaza () is a private housing estate and shopping mall in Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong, located near the MTR Tsuen Wan West station, Tsuen Wan Ferry Pier, Nina Tower, Skyline Plaza, Citywalk and Citywalk 2. It is one of the largest shopping malls in the district. Built on the reclaimed land of the old Tsuen Wan Ferry Pier, it was developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties in 1992. A large-scale renovation was completed from 2005 to 2009. There are a wide variety of retail shops in the plaza, including a Yata department store replacing the former JUSCO which moved to the nearby Skyline Plaza. Tsuen Wan Plaza also has a variety of restaurants and leisure and entertainment facilities including a Broadway Circuit cinema and a outdoor children's playground. Tsuen Wan
Tsuen Wan (formerly also spelled Tsun Wan) is a town built on a bay in the western New Territories of Hong Kong, opposite of Tsing Yi Island across Rambler Channel. The market town of Tsuen Wan emerged from the surrounding villages and fleets of fishing boats in the area. The now-crowded city is around the present-day Tsuen Wan station of the MTR. Its coastline was further extended through land reclamation. History According to the report of Hong Kong archaeological society, there were people settled in Tsuen Wan as early as two thousand years ago. In earlier days, it was known as Tsin Wan (淺灣) which means shallow bay, and later renamed to Tsuen Wan. Private Housing Estates In Hong Kong
Private housing estate is a term used in Hong Kong for private mass housing – a housing estate developed by a private developer, as opposed to a public housing estate built by the Hong Kong Housing Authority or the Hong Kong Housing Society. It usually is characterised with a cluster of high-rise buildings, with its own market or shopping mall. Mei Foo Sun Chuen, built by Mobil, is the earliest (1965) and largest by number of blocks (99). Early real estate development in Hong Kong followed the urban street pattern: single blocks are packed along streets and most of them are managed independently, with quality varying from block to block. Private housing estates on the other hand provide integrated management throughout whole estate, attracting more affluent residents. JUSCO
is the acronym for Japan United Stores Company, a chain of "general merchandise stores" (or hypermarket) and the largest of its type in Japan. The various JUSCO companies are subsidiaries of the ÆON supermarket chain. The JUSCO name was adopted in 1970 from a company founded as a kimono silk trader in 1758.
