In Dreams (Roy Orbison Song)
"In Dreams" is a song composed and sung by singer Roy Orbison. An operatic rock ballad of lost love, it was released as a single on Monument Records in February 1963. It became the title track on the album '' In Dreams'', released in July of the same year. The song has a unique structure in seven musical movements in which Orbison sings through two octaves, beyond the range of most rock and roll singers. The song peaked on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 charts at number 7, and charted in the United Kingdom for five months while Orbison toured sharing billing with the Beatles. It gained notability again in 1987 when Orbison released a re-recorded anthology of his greatest hits; the year prior David Lynch had used the song provocatively in his neo-noir '' Blue Velvet'', helping to revive Orbison's career. The theme of the song was interwoven in similar compositions throughout his tenure as a musician. As a result, several collections of Orbison's music share the title of the song. ''Ro ...

In Dreams (soundtrack)
The score to the psychological thriller '' In Dreams,'' by Elliot Goldenthal, is an avant-garde work filled with his trademark techniques and dissonance. Composed in 1999, and working again with frequent collaborator Neil Jordan, it also features songs by Roy Orbison and The Andrews Sisters. The Score Stylistically similar to his score for ''Heat'' with the use of dark, at times deliberately off-key, electric guitars layered upon one another (a technique he has referred to as a "guitar orchestra") over string and brass arrangements typical of his style, using '' Deaf Elk'' for this purpose and employing the use of a string quartet; also with this score, as in ''Titus'', his use of saxophone (played by Bruce Williamson) is very off-beat, earthy and avant-garde. The dark mood is off-set with more delicate piano and string pieces; also the use of electronic arrangements (produced by Richard Martinez), something Goldenthal embraced on this score. In Dreams (Howard Shore Song)
"In Dreams" is a song by Howard Shore, with lyrics by Fran Walsh, originally written for Peter Jackson's 2001 film '' The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring''. In the film, it was sung by the boy soprano Edward Ross of the London Oratory School Schola. The song makes use of all the variants of one of the musical themes or leitmotifs used in the music written for ''The Lord of the Rings'' film series, namely "The Shire", with its "pensive", "rural", and "hymn" settings. It was originally the main end-credits song, a direct continuation of the Breaking of the Fellowship piece, which features the Hymn variant as well. The musicologist Doug Adams comments that "Like all Shore's music for the hobbits, this song is designed to feel as if it could be both about the Shire and from it—as if it were some sweetly nostalgic song sung at the closing of the Green Dragon nneach night." Since then, it has been arranged for many occasions, including a full symphonic version by ...
