True (TRU Album)
''True'' is the third studio album released by rap group, TRU. The album was released on July 25, 1995 for No Limit Records and features production from Al "Baby Jesus" Eaton, Kenneth Darnell Franklin, Percy Robert Miller (Master P), and Raymond Emile Poole (Mo B. Dick). Producer's Daryl Lee Anderson (DJ Daryl), Craig Stephen Lawson (Craig), Larry Dodson (Larry D), Mark Ogleton (CMT), Shon Adams (E-A-Ski), and Vyshonne Miller (Silkk the Shocker) are also featured on individual tracks. TRU (group)
TRU (an abbreviation of The Real Untouchables) was an American hip hop group from New Orleans, active from 1989 to 2005. The group originally consisted of rappers on the New Orleans-founded record label, No Limit Records. The members are brothers Master P, C-Murder, and Silkk the Shocker. The group released six albums, incorporating the typical No Limit formula of G-funk rhythms married to hardcore gangsta lyrics. King George, Big Ed the Assassin, Cali G, Sonya C, Chilee Powdah and Milkman, before being shortened to just Master P, C-Murder and Silkk the Shocker. Silkk The Shocker
Vyshonn King Miller (born June 18, 1975), better known by his stage name Silkk the Shocker, is an American rapper and actor. He originally went under the stage name Silkk, but later adopted Silkk the Shocker after the release of his first album. He has now signed partnership with his brother Master P and his nephew Romeo label No Limit Forever. Music career 1996–1998: ''The Shocker and Charge It 2 Da Game'' Silkk the Shocker rose to fame in the mid-late 1990s. After striking a deal with Priority, No Limit Records released Silkk's debut album '' The Shocker'' in August 1996, produced by Beats By The Pound, DJ Daryl, K-Lou and T-Bone. Shawn Thomas, also known by his stage name C-Bo, is an American rapper. C-Bo, notoriously known for his relationship with law enforcement, was one of the first rappers to be jailed due to his lyrical content, a scathing critique of political officials, including governor Pete Wilson, California's Prop. 184 mandatory 25-life sentences for three strike felons, and police on his track "Deadly Game" written with rapper X-Raided in 1995. He unsuccessfully argued for appeal three times, while gaining nationwide attention for arguably his most successful mainstream album. Although some charges were dropped as it was viewed as a violation of his First Amendment rights, he was arrested in California in 1998, under the suspicion that his violent rap lyrics violated his parole. Mia Young (born January 9, 1970), better known by her stage name Mia X, is an American rapper and songwriter. She was the first female emcee to get a contract with rapper and entertainment magnate, Master P on his successful record label No Limit Records. She is known for collaborations with several No Limit Records artists, including Master P and Silkk the Shocker on the seminal albums, '' Ice Cream Man'', ''Ghetto D'' and '' Charge It 2 Da Game''. Personal life Young was born in the 7th Ward housing projects in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2006 in a magazine article, her publicist releases a statement of an upcoming cookbook. Percy Robert Miller Sr. (born April 29, 1967), known by his stage name Master P, is an American rapper, record executive, record producer, actor, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of the record label No Limit Records, which was relaunched as New No Limit Records through Universal Records and Koch Records, and again as Guttar Music Entertainment, and currently, No Limit Forever Records. He is also the founder and CEO of P. Miller Enterprises and Better Black Television, which was a short-lived online television network. C-Murder
Corey Miller (born March 9, 1971), better known by his stage name C-Murder, is an American rapper and songwriter. He initially gained fame in the mid-1990s as a part of his brother Master P's label No Limit Records, primarily as a member of the label's supergroup, TRU. Miller went on to release several solo albums of his own through the label, including 1998's platinum '' Life or Death''. C-Murder has released nine albums altogether on six different labels, No Limit Records, TRU Records, Koch Records, Asylum Records, RBC Records, and Venti Uno. In 2002, Miller was arrested in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Steve Thomas, and was sentenced to life in prison on August 14, 2009. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. Gangsta Rap
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, emerged in the mid- to late 1980s as a controversial hip-hop subgenre whose lyrics assert the culture and values typical of American street gangs and street hustlers. Many gangsta rappers flaunt associations with real street gangs, like the Crips and Bloods.
