Trude Stendal
Trude Margaret Stendal (born 30 May 1963 in Bergen) is a Norwegian former footballer. She played as a forward for Toppserien club IL Sandviken and the Norway women's national football team. She scored twice in the Norwegians' 2–1 win over Sweden in the final of the 1987 European Competition for Women's Football. During her football career Stendal also worked in a bank. She trained as a nurse when injury brought about her premature retirement from football. Stendal had injured her knee in a match against the United States a month after the Euro 1987 final. After making her comeback, she broke her leg in a 1991 Norwegian Women's Cup match against Trondheims-Ørn and was forced to retire. Bergen (), historically Bjørgvin, is a city and municipality in Vestland county on the west coast of Norway. , its population is roughly 285,900. Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway. Toppserien Players
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. SK Sprint-Jeløy (women) Players
Sportsklubben Sprint-Jeløy is a Norwegian football club from Jeløya in Moss. The club was founded in 1926 when both ''Jeløy IF'' and ''SK Sprint'' was formed. The two clubs merged into Sportsklubben Sprint-Jeløy on 11 October 1940. The women's team is one of Norway's most successful teams, with 4 Toppserien-titles and 4 Norwegian Women's Cup titles. The Norwegian Football Federation ( nb, Norges Fotballforbund, nn, Noregs Fotballforbund; NFF) is the governing body of football in Norway. It was formed in 1902 and organises the men's and women's national teams, as well as the league systems for men and women (whose top levels are respectively the Eliteserien and Toppserien). The current president of NFF is Lise Klaveness. By 1 January 2004, there were 1,814 clubs organized in Norway and 373,532 registered players. It is the largest sports federation in Norway. The NFF joined FIFA in 1908, and UEFA in 1954. The NFF was part of an unsuccessful joint bid with the SvFF, the DBU and the SPL to host the UEFA Euro 2008 championship. Rosenborg Ballklub Kvinner (previously known as Sportsklubben Trondheims-Ørn) is a Norwegian women's professional football club in Trondheim, Trøndelag. History The club was founded as a multi-sports club on May 18, 1917, and became a member of the Workers' Sports Federation in the 1920s. It was first based in Lademoen and had a clubhouse at Buran between 1946 and the 1960s. It had sections for men's football, Nordic skiing, speed skating, track and field, and swimming. Team handball followed in 1952, and ice hockey in 1961. The women's football section was established in 1972, twelve years before a national league was organized. The men's football team and all other sports were discontinued in 1984, so that only the women's football section survived.
