Troy Trojans Women's Golf
The Troy Trojans women's golf teams represent Troy University located in Troy, Alabama, and compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans play their home matches at the Troy Country Club, and use the recently built/renovated Trojan Oaks Golf Practice Facility for practicing. History The Troy women's golf team has a relatively short history on the golf course. Yearly records for the women's golf team only date back to the 1993–94 academic year. Since current head coach Bart Barnes took over the team in 2013, he has led the team to three NCAA Regional appearances, three conference championships, and multiple national rankings. Troy University
Troy University is a public university in Troy, Alabama. It was founded in 1887 as Troy State Normal School within the Alabama State University System, and is now the flagship university of the Troy University System. The Sun Belt Conference (SBC) is a collegiate athletic conference that has been affiliated with the NCAA's Division I since 1976. The Troy Trojans are the sports teams of Troy University. They began playing in the NCAA's Division I-A in 2001, became a football only member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2004, and joined that conference for all other sports in 2005. Troy University's athletics nickname was the Red Wave until the early 1970s when the student body voted to change the name to Trojans. NCAA Division II (D-II) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III. NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships
The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, played in late May or early June, is the top annual competition in U.S. men's collegiate golf. The teams that win their respective Division I conference championships are given automatic spots in the regionals. A selection committee decides which other teams play in the regionals. The top teams in each regional advance to the championship. In addition, the best player in each tournament from teams not qualified also advance to the next round as individual competitors. Fátima Fernández Cano
Fátima Fernández Cano (born 23 October 1995) is a Spanish professional golfer and member of the LPGA Tour. Early life, amateur and college career Cano was born in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. As a junior player, Cano won the Galicia Championships in 2005. She played college golf at Troy University between 2013 and 2017. While at Troy, she was the Sun Belt Conference individual champion her freshman year. LET Access Series
The LET Access Series (LETAS) is a professional golf tour for women and the official development tour to the Ladies European Tour. Launched in 2010, the LET Access Series provides players with an opportunity to compete and progress on to the LET. Eligible for membership are all female professional golfers and amateurs over 18 with a handicap of 2 or better.
