Trochoidea (superfamily)
Trochoidea is a superfamily of small to very large vetigastropod sea snails with gills and an operculum.Gofas, S. (2013). Trochoidea. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=156489 on 2013-06-29 Species within this superfamily have nacre as the inner shell layer. The families within this superfamily include the Trochidae, the top snails. This superfamily is the largest vetigastropodan superfamily, containing more than 2,000 species. This taxon is ''not'' the same as a pulmonate land snail genus which is spelled the same way: ''Trochoidea'' (genus). Taxonomy 2005 taxonomy This superfamily consisted of nine following families (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005): * Trochidae Rafinesque, 1815 * Calliostomatidae Thiele, 1924 (1847) * † Elasmonematidae Knight, 1956 * † Eucochlidae Bandel, 2002 * † Microdomatidae Wenz, 1938 * † Proconulidae Cox, 1960 * Solarie ...

Tegula Pulligo
''Tegula pulligo'', common name the dusky tegula, is a species of medium-sized sea snail with gills and an operculum, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Tegulidae.Rosenberg, G. (2013). Tegula pulligo (Gmelin, 1791). Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species aWoRMS - World Register of Marine Species - Tegula pulligo (Gmelin, 1791)on 2013-12-30 This is an Eastern Pacific Ocean species. Description The size of the shell varies between 19 mm and 41 mm. The solid shell is deeply and widely umbilicate. It has a conical shape with an elevated spire. Its color is dull purplish or brown, when worn often orange, obliquely streaked with white or unicolored. The seven whorls are flattened, the upper ones finely spirally striate and sometimes very obsoletely plicate. The remainder is smooth, obliquely finely striate. The base of the shell is flattened, slightly convex, obliquely streaked, concave and white around the umbilicus. The body whorl is bluntly angled at ...

Anomphalidae
The Anomphalidae is an extinct family of fossil sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks. These are archaeogastropods which are included in the suborder Trochina. The Anomphalidae lived during the Paleozoic, from the Silurian to the Middle Permian. According to some authorities these snails belong instead to the Euomphalacea. Morphologic diagnosis Shells of the Anomphalidae are rounded, almost discoidal, low-spired trochospiral inform, possibly with a globular body whorl. The aperture is oval, without exhalent slit or crease. The umbilicus is narrow, open or closed. The inner shell layer is seemingly nacreous. The shell surface is generally smooth, ornamentation consisting of fine transverse lyrae or growth lines parallel to the aperture lip.J. Brooks Knight et al 1960. Systematic Descriptions (Gastropoda), Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology, Part I, Mollusca 1, R.C. Moore (ed). The Anomphalidae differ from the Euomphalcea to which they have been reassigned in being more tr ...
