Triple-A Plowed Under
''Triple-A Plowed Under'' is a Living Newspaper play produced by the Federal Theatre Project in 1936. Written by Arthur Arent from research by the editorial staff of the Federal Theatre Project and directed by Joseph Losey, it focused on the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933 and the plight of Dust Bowl farmers. The production premiered on Broadway at the Biltmore Theatre on March 14, 1936 and ran until May 2, 1936. Background The Federal Theatre Project, directed by Hallie Flanagan, was created in 1935 as one of the Works Project Administration's five Federal Project Number One projects to provide relief for unemployed actors, artists, writers, directors and theater workers during the Great Depression.
