Trinity College Nabbingo
Trinity College Nabbingo (TRICONA), is an all-girls boarding school covering grades 8–13 in Central Uganda. Location The school is located on a hill in the village of Nabbingo, in Wakiso District, approximately , by road, south-west of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city, off of the Kampala-Masaka Road. History TRICONA was founded in 1942 by the White Fathers, who are affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Thirty six years earlier, the same religious congregation had founded St. Mary's College Kisubi, a boys-only residential middle and high school along the Kampala-Entebbe Road. TRICONA was established, having realized that the secondary education of Catholic girls needed to be addressed as well. Afrigo Band
The Afrigo Band is a musical band in Uganda. It is the longest-lasting musical group in the history of Uganda, having existed for 44 years by August 2019. History The band was formed by a group of eight musicians led by their band leader, vocalist, and alto saxophonist, Moses Matovu, who continued to lead the band on its 38th anniversary. Playing to their fans at home in Uganda, the group tours regularly in Europe and the United States to play to Ugandans in the Diaspora. He has been performing with the band since and is its leader, as of February 2015. Joanita Kawalya
Joanita Kawalya is a Ugandan musician and activist. She is a member of the Afrigo Band, the longest-lasting musical band in Uganda, which has been in continuous existence since 1975. Early life and education Kawalya was born to the late singer Eclaus Kawalya on 5 January 1967. She worked as a teacher at ''Lubiri Senior Secondary School'' between 1989 and 1993. Music career Kawalya started singing at an early age. She went on to sing in choir in school and later as a part time member of "The Wrens", courtesy of her father's guest performances with the band. He would take the whole family with him. She joined Afrigo Band in 1986 when she was nineteen-year-old, replacing her sister, Margaret, also a vocalist who was leaving for Germany. National Resistance Movement
The National Resistance Movement ( sw, Harakati za Upinzani za Kitaifa; abbr. NRM) has been the ruling party in Uganda since 1986. History The National Resistance Movement (NRM) was founded as a liberation movement that waged a guerrilla war through its rebel wing National Resistance Army (NRA) that toppled the government in 1986. Amama Mbabazi
John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, SC (simply known as Amama Mbabazi, born 16 January 1949) is a Ugandan politician who served as the ninth Prime Minister of Uganda from 24 May 2011 to 19 September 2014. He played an instrumental role in Uganda's protracted liberation struggle from several tyrannical governments (1972-1986) and is a founding member of the National Resistance Movement, the ruling political party in Uganda. Jacqueline Susan Ruhindi Mbabazi (born 18 August 1954) is a Ugandan educator, politician and businesswoman. She is the wife of the former prime minister of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi. Hope Ruhindi Mwesigye is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. She is the former Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry & Fisheries from 16 February 2009 until 27 May 2011. Prior to that, she served as the State Minister for Local Government, from June 2006 until February 2011. Makerere University, Kampala (; Mak) is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. Dominica or Dominic Dipio (professionally referred to as Professor Sister Dominic Dipio) is a Ugandan religious sister, a filmmaker, author and a professor of Literature and Film at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. As a sister, she belongs to the Institute of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, MSMMC, a Ugandan-founded religious congregation in Roman Catholic Diocese of Lira in Northern Uganda.
