Afrigo Band
The Afrigo Band is a musical band in Uganda. It is the longest-lasting musical group in the history of Uganda, having existed for 44 years by August 2019. History The band was formed by a group of eight musicians led by their band leader, vocalist, and alto saxophonist, Moses Matovu, who continued to lead the band on its 38th anniversary. Playing to their fans at home in Uganda, the group tours regularly in Europe and the United States to play to Ugandans in the Diaspora. He has been performing with the band since and is its leader, as of February 2015. Sauti Ya Africa (SYA) (''"Voice Of Africa"'' in Swahili), the Commonwealth Music Ambassadors, is a musical group in Uganda. It is a trio of three men who have been performing together since circa 2005. History The band members were drawn together by their collective love of music, before they started the group. The group was mentored by ''Ulrike Wilson'', the representative of the IMF in Uganda at the time. Blu 3 was a Ugandan all-female band formed in April 2004 after winning the TV show Coca Cola ''Popstars''. The name is contrived to mean 3 Beautiful (or Black) Ladies from Uganda. Original members were Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi and Cinderella Sanyu. After winning the contest, they went on to record the albums ''Hitaji'' (2004) and ''Burrn'' (2007). The ''Hitaji'' album spawned the hit singles "Hitaji", "Frisky" and the afro beat "Tomalaako". The girls launched ''Hitaji'' at lugogo cricket stadium in December 2004 with thousands of fans. The "Hitaji" video went on to win the Pearl of Africa Music Award for Video of the Year. Sanyu left to pursue other projects and was replaced by Mya Baganda. Radio & Weasel is a Ugandan dynamic Duo under Goodlyfe Crew a Ugandan music group with lead performers being singers Moses Radio (born Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo) and easel Manizo(born Douglas Mayanja). Moses Radio provided smooth RnB vocals while Weasel's contribution is a fusion of reggae, ragga and dancehall vibes. Because of their prominence, Moses Radio and Weasel have formed their own duo known as Radio and Weasel. The Lead singer Moses and Vocalist Radio died on 1 February 2018 from brain injuries after an assault by a bouncer at a club in Entebbe. Undercover Brothers Ug also simply known as Undercover Brothers are a Ugandan music duo composed of guitarist and vocalist Jay K Mulungi and vocalist Timothy Kirya, whose music career sparked off when they won the auditions and represented Uganda in the sixth season of East Africa's biggest singing competition ''Tusker Project Fame''. He said he redid the song because it was his biggest childhood memory. He moved to Eastern Uganda to look for Rachel Magoola to obtain her permission and blessings to redo Obangaina.
