Triathlon Australia
AusTriathlon (formerly Triathlon Australia) is the governing body responsible for the management of sports such as duathlon, aquathlon and triathlon within Australia. History Triathlon came to Australia in the early 1980s but the first state Associations arrived 4 year later. In 1986, the Triathlon Federation of Australia (what is now known as Triathlon Australia) was founded with the support of Dr. Jim Hazel from Sydney and Geoff Frost from Melbourne. In 1991, the name was changed to what is now known as Triathlon Australia. In 1989, the first International Triathlon Union's Triathlon World Championships was (or ITU for short) held there in Australia. Jackie Fairweather
Jacquilyn Louise "Jackie" Fairweather (née Gallagher; 10 November 1967 1 November 2014) was an Australian world champion triathlete, long-distance runner, coach and Australian Institute of Sport high-performance administrator. Personal life Jacquilyn Louise Gallagher was born on 10 November 1967 in Perth. Her parents were Delys and Martin, and she had two younger brothers: Matthew and Joshua. In 1979, whilst living in Sydney, she became involved in Little Athletics. She moved to Brisbane in the mid-1980s; and, in 1989, she completed a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies (First Class Honours) at the University of Queensland. A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of Swimming (sport), swimming, Cycle sport, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. Miles Stewart
Miles Stewart (born 4 May 1971 in Sydney, Manly) is an athlete from Australia, who competes in triathlon. Originally a speedskater from Wollongong he rose to the elite ranks of the emerging sport of triathlon in the early 1990s whilst living on Queensland's Gold Coast. Hall of Fame In 2009 Beven was inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame. Personal life Brad Bevan lived in Mirriwini. Loretta Harrop
Loretta "Loz" Harrop (born July 17, 1975, in Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian triathlete. As a teenager she attended Cavendish Road State High School along with her siblings and as of 2007 has a house named after her. Harrop house which will go by the colour red. Harrop competed at the first Olympic triathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics. She placed fifth with a total time of 2:01:42.82. Her split times were 19:37.98 for the swim, 1:05:40.70 for the cycling, and 0:36:24.14 for the run. Four years later, Harrop competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Michellie Jones
Michellie Yvonne Jones ( ; born 6 September 1969) is an Australian triathlete. She has won two ITU Triathlon World Championships, an Olympic silver medal, and the 2006 Ironman World Championship. She won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics as a guide for Katie Kelly, when paratriathlon made its debut at the Paralympics. Personal life Jones currently lives in Carlsbad, California.
