Treyarch Corporation ( ; formerly Treyarch Invention LLC) is an American video game developer based in Santa Monica, California. Founded in 1996 by Peter Akemann and Doğan Köslü, it was acquired by Activision in 2001. The studio is known for its work for the ''Call of Duty'' series, which it develops alongside Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software. History Treyarch was founded in 1996 as Treyarch Inventions and was acquired by Activision in 2001. In 2005, Gray Matter Studios was merged into Treyarch. As part of the 2007 Leipzig Games Convention, Activision announced that Treyarch would be one of three developers behind their first James Bond based game, '' 007: Quantum of Solace''. The game was released on October 31, 2008 in Europe and November 4, 2008 in North America. Vicarious Visions developed the Nintendo DS version and Eurocom developed the PlayStation 2 version. ''Call of Duty'' is a first-person shooter video game Media franchise, franchise published by Activision. Starting out in 2003, it first focused on games set in World War II. Gray Matter Interactive Studios, Inc. (Gray Matter Studios; formerly Xatrix Entertainment, Inc.) was an American video game developer based in Los Angeles. History Drew Markham and his business partner Barry Dempsey founded Xatrix Entertainment in March 1993. The studio's first release was '' Cyberia'' in 1994. Among its later projects was '' Quake II Mission Pack: The Reckoning'', for which it worked with publisher Activision. Around 1999, some of the original business partners sought to exit the company. To handle this efficiently, Xatrix was transferred to a new corporation under Markham as creative director. ''Olympic Hockey '98'' is an ice hockey game for the Nintendo 64 that was released in 1998. It is a re-release of '' Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey '98'', but this time not endorsed by Wayne Gretzky and featuring the license for the 1998 Winter Olympics that were celebrated in Nagano, Japan. It was the video game developer debut of Treyarch. Besides the box art, in-game titles, and some minor graphic changes (such as team logos and colors), every single aspect of the game is practically identical to ''Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey '98''. ''Triple Play 2000'' is a baseball sports game released for the PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and Microsoft Windows in 1999. It is the only game of the ''Triple Play series'' released for the Nintendo 64 where it was only released in North America. It features the 1999 rosters and 1998 stats which included Sammy Sosa's 66 HR and Mark McGwire's 70 home runs.
