Trevor Swinburne
Trevor Swinburne (born 20 June 1953) is an English retired professional football goalkeeper who made nearly 250 appearances in the Football League for Carlisle United. He also played league football for Brentford, Lincoln City, Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United. Personal life Swinburne's father, Tom, and brother Alan were also professional footballers. After retiring from football in 1987, Swinburne worked for the Her Majesty's Prison Service and eventually became a governor. Thomas Swinburne has a son named Paul Swinburne and 2 others. As of 2020 Swinburne was the chairman of Lincoln City Former players association and host of Lincoln City Radio Sports Zone. Houghton-le-Spring
Houghton-le-Spring ( ) is a town in the City of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, North East England which has its recorded origins in Norman times. Historically in County Durham, it is now administered as part of the Tyne and Wear county. It is situated almost equidistant between the cathedral city of Durham southwest and Sunderland about northeast. The town of Seaham and the North Sea lie about directly east. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. Anglo-Scottish Cup
The Anglo-Scottish Cup was a tournament arranged for teams in the English and Scottish football leagues during the summer for several years during the 1970s. It was created in 1975 as a new incarnation of the Texaco Cup, with a similar format to its predecessor, but involving clubs from England and Scotland only. The competition made every attempt to maintain the status of a top-level tournament. Newcastle United were expelled from the 1976–77 competition for playing a weakened team in the first leg of their quarter-final against Ayr United. Over the years, however, English entrants were increasingly drawn from the lower divisions, and in 1981 the Scottish clubs withdrew as the public showed little interest in the competition.
