Trevor Hairsine
Trevor Hairsine is a British comics artist, whose detailed style has been compared to that of Bryan Hitch. In August 2005 Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada named him as one of Marvel Comics's "Young Guns", a group of artists who have the qualities that make "a future superstar penciller". Career Hairsine began his professional career working for the ''Judge Dredd Megazine'', where he co-created the character of Harmony Krieg, and at '' 2000 AD'', as one of the artists of the anthology's flagship series ''Judge Dredd''. He worked on the first three issues of ''Cla$$war'' but problems for the publisher Com.x caused a delay in publication and Hairsine had already got the attention of Marvel Comics and went on to provide the art for Captain America. He has since worked mostly for Marvel since, frequently illustrating scripts by Brian Michael Bendis and fellow-Brit Warren Ellis. Lucca Comics & Games is an annual Comic book convention, comic book and gaming convention in Lucca, Italy, traditionally held at the end of October, in conjunction with All Saints' Day. It is the largest comics festival in Europe, and the second biggest in the world after the Comiket. History The Salone Internazionale del Comics ("International Congress of Comics") was launched by a Franco-Italian partnership, consisting of Italians Rinaldo Traini and Romano Calisi and Frenchman (forming the International Congress of Cartoonists and Animators) in 1965 in Bordighera. In 1966, it moved to a small piazza in the center of Lucca, and grew in size and importance over the years. Funding issues reduced the frequency of the festival to every two years, beginning in 1977. ''Missionary Man'' is British comic strip. It debuted in the ''Judge Dredd Megazine'' in May 1993 with the introductory 7-page story "Salvation At The Last Chance Saloon", illustrated by Frank Quitely. It established that tall Preacher Cain rides the Cursed Earth performing "special sermons" in the radiation-poisoned towns, tutoring the damned with a bible and his guns. In this first outing, having educated and decimated a table of gambling mutant heavyweights he rides into the sunset, tossing a bible at the surviving townspeople - which contains a thermonuclear explosive. Peter Hogan is an English writer and comics writer, best known for ''Resident Alien'', which he co-created with artist Steve Parkhouse. Hogan began his comics career as editor of cult British comic ''Revolver'' in 1990–1991, before working for '' 2000 AD'', American comic book publishers Vertigo, America's Best Comics and Dark Horse Comics Biography In 1978 Pete Townshend, of The Who, asked Hogan to set up and manage his Magic Bus Bookshop in Richmond. Strontium Dog
''Strontium Dog'' was a long-running British comics series starring Johnny Alpha, a mutant bounty hunter who lives in Earth's future. The series was created in 1978 by writer John Wagner (under the pseudonym T. B. Grover) and artist Carlos Ezquerra for '' Starlord'', a short-lived weekly science fiction comic. When ''Starlord'' was cancelled, the series transferred to the British science fiction weekly '' 2000 AD''. In 1980, Wagner was joined by co-writer Alan Grant, although scripts were normally credited to Grant alone. Grant wrote the series by himself from 1988 to 1990. Wagner revived the series after a ten year hiatus in 2000. Alan Barnes is a British writer and editor, mainly related to cult film and television. Biography Barnes is from Newcastle upon Tyne. He was the editor of ''Judge Dredd Megazine'' from 2001 until 2005. Among other strips, Barnes originally commissioned ''The Simping Detective''. He also wrote a handful of ''Judge Dredd'' stories involving alternate universes or featuring a young Dredd. John Wagner
John Wagner (born 1949) is an American-born British comics writer. Alongside Pat Mills, he helped revitalise British comics in the 1970s, and continues to be active in the British comics industry, occasionally also working in American comics. He is best known as the co-creator, with artist Carlos Ezquerra, of the character Judge Dredd. Wagner started his career in editorial with D. C. Thomson & Co. in the late 1960s before becoming a freelance writer and a staff editor at IPC Media, IPC in the 1970s. In June 2020, Newsarama was merged with the website GamesRadar+, also owned by FutureUS. History Newsarama began in mid-1995 as a series of Internet forum postings on the Prodigy comic book message boards by fan Mike Doran. In the forum postings, Doran shared comic book-related news items he had found across the World Wide Web and, as these postings became more regular and read widely, he gave them the title "Prodigy Comic Book Newswire."
