Missionary Man (comics)
''Missionary Man'' is British comic strip. It debuted in the ''Judge Dredd Megazine'' in May 1993 with the introductory 7-page story "Salvation At The Last Chance Saloon", illustrated by Frank Quitely. It established that tall Preacher Cain rides the Cursed Earth performing "special sermons" in the radiation-poisoned towns, tutoring the damned with a bible and his guns. In this first outing, having educated and decimated a table of gambling mutant heavyweights he rides into the sunset, tossing a bible at the surviving townspeople - which contains a thermonuclear explosive. In 1998 the strip transitioned to the weekly '' 2000 AD''. ''Judge Dredd: The Megazine'' is a monthly British comic magazine, launched in September 1990. It is a sister publication to '' 2000 AD''. Its name is a play on words, formed from "magazine" and Judge Dredd's locale Mega-City One. Content Like ''2000 AD'', ''Judge Dredd Megazine ''is an anthology, featuring both ongoing and stand-alone stories. Some series have comprised a specific storyline while others only a loose thematic connection. Originally the Megazine only set stories in the world of ''Judge Dredd'', including both spin-off series and ''Future Shock''-style done-in-one stories, starting with '' Strange Cases'' and continuing with ''Tales from the Black Museum''. David Bishop (writer)
David Bishop (born 27 September 1966), also D. V. Bishop, is a New Zealand comic book editor and writer of comics, novels and screenplays. In 1990s he ran the UK comics titles ''Judge Dredd Megazine'' (1991–2002) and '' 2000 AD'' (1995–2000). He has since become a prolific author and received his first drama scriptwriting credit when BBC Radio 4 broadcast his radio play ''Island Blue: Ronald'' in June 2006. John Ridgway (born 4 May 1940) is an English comic book artist. He is best known as the first artist of the comic book series ''Hellblazer'', featuring John Constantine. Career Ridgway began his career initially as a hobby, drawing D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd, D.C.Thompson's Commando Comics, Commando War Stories alongside professional work as a design engineer. Dean Ormston is a British born comic book artist. His most notable work has been for the British comic '' 2000 AD'' and for DC Comics' Vertigo imprint. Biography Ormston was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England and earned a degree in art and illustration at Leeds University sometime around the mid-1980s. For the following few years he spent his time between playing the drums in various bands, some of which released singles and compilation album tracks (The Silent Scream, The second Coming, This Colossal Youth) and working part-time in a Sheffield comic-book shop with fellow budding artists Nick Percival, Greg Staples and filmmaker Lee Ford.
