Trent Harmon
Trenton William Harmon (born October 8, 1990) is an American country music singer who gained national attention for winning the fifteenth season of ''American Idol'' on April 7, 2016. Early life and education Harmon was born in Amory, Mississippi, the son of Cindy and Randy Harmon and second cousin of actor Richard Harmon. He started in music when his mother taught him to sing "Amazing Grace" when he was the age of five, and he grew up singing in church. His family owns a farm and a yard-to-table restaurant, Longhorn, where he was a waiter. He credits his upbringing on the farm and in the restaurant for his strong work ethic. He sang and performed through many musicals while attending Amory High School and, later, the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he also led on-campus worship services as an undergraduate. Amory, Mississippi
Amory is a city in Monroe County, Mississippi. The population was 7,316 at the 2010 census. Located in the northeastern part of the state near the Alabama border, it was founded in 1887 as a railroad town by the Kansas City, Memphis and Birmingham Railroad. As a result, Cotton Gin Port, along the Tombigbee River to the east, was abandoned as businesses and people moved for railroad access. History Amory was founded as a planned railroad town. The Kansas City, Memphis & Birmingham Railroad was expanding in the South and needed a midpoint between Memphis, Tennessee, and Birmingham, Alabama, to service their locomotives.
