Treaty 6
Treaty 6 is the sixth of the numbered treaties that were signed by the Canadian Crown and various First Nations between 1871 and 1877. It is one of a total of 11 numbered treaties signed between the Canadian Crown and First Nations. Specifically, Treaty 6 is an agreement between the Crown and the Plains and Woods Cree, Assiniboine, and other band governments at Fort Carlton and Fort Pitt. Key figures, representing the Crown, involved in the negotiations were Alexander Morris, Lieutenant Governor of the North-West Territories; James McKay, The Minister of Agriculture for Manitoba; and W.J. Christie, the Chief Factor of the Hudson's Bay Company. Chief Mistawasis and Chief Ahtahkakoop represented the Carlton Cree. Wilton Littlechild
J. Wilton Littlechild (born 1944), known as Willie Littlechild, is a Canadian lawyer and Cree chief who was Grand Chief of the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations and a member of Parliament. A residential school survivor, he is known for his work nationally and internationally on Indigenous rights. He was born in Hobbema, now named Maskwacis, Alberta. Early life and education Wilton Littlechild was born on 1 April 1944 in Hobbema, Alberta. He was brought to residential school at the age of six, spending 14 years in the system until his completion of high school. He witnessed and experienced abuses during that time. As a young man, he was a successful athlete who won ten Athlete of the Year Awards. He graduated with a Bachelor of Physical Education degree in 1967, then obtained a master's degree in physical education from the University of Alberta in 1975. Enoch Cree Nation
The Enoch Cree Nation #440 ( cr, script=Cans, ᒪᐢᑫᑯᓯᐦᐠ, ) is a First Nations band government in Alberta, Canada. Members of the Nation are of Cree ancestry and speak the Plains Cree dialect of the Cree language group. The band is a signatory of Treaty 6 and is a member of the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations. The chief of the Enoch Cree Nation is Cody Thomas. Location The Nation controls two reserves: the larger reserve, Enoch Cree Nation 135 is (20 sections) or officially and west of, and adjacent to, the City of Edmonton and surrounded by Parkland County on the north, west, and south. William (Billy) Morin
William Morin IV (Cree: *Nahtokitopi*: "Rides a Sacred Horse"; born 1987 or 1988) known as Billy Morin is a Canadian Cree First Nations leader and the elected Chief of Enoch Cree Nation since August 2015. He has built partnerships among Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups toward economic and social prosperity and reconciliation. Ancestry and Relationships Morin is named after Chief William (Billy) Morin I, and is a fifth-generation decedent of Chief Alexis Morin. He shares two sons and a daughter with his wife Felecia. Frog Lake First Nations
A frog is any member of a diverse and largely carnivorous group of short-bodied, tailless amphibians composing the order Anura (ανοὐρά, literally ''without tail'' in Ancient Greek). The oldest fossil "proto-frog" '' Triadobatrachus'' is known from the Early Triassic of Madagascar, but molecular clock dating suggests their split from other amphibians may extend further back to the Permian, 265 million years ago. Alexander First Nation
Alexander First Nation ( cr, Kipohtakaw / ᑭᐳᐦᑕᑲᐤ) is a First Nations band government, headquartered west of Morinville, Alberta. This First Nation is part of the Cree ethno-linguistic group, is a member of the Yellowhead Tribal Council (a regional grouping of several bands), and is party to Treaty 6. The band controls three Indian reserves: Alexander 134, Alexander 134A, and Alexander 134B. The main reserve is bordered by Sturgeon County and Lac Ste. Anne County.
