''Treason'' ( el, Προδοσία, translit. Prodosia) is a 1964 Greek drama film directed by Kostas Manoussakis. It was entered into the 1965 Cannes Film Festival. Greece has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. It was created for the 1956 Academy Awards, in which a competitive Academy Award of Merit, known as the Best Foreign Language Film Award, was created for non-English speaking films, and has been given annually since. For the 78th Academy Awards, Greece selected '' Nyfes'' but it was ruled ineligible for being in English. In the 1990s, Greek film law stipulated that the winner of the Greek Film Competition at the Thessaloniki Film Festival would represent Greece at the Oscars the following year. This is a list of submissions to the 37th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English language, English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 37th Academy Awards, eighteen films were submitted in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Czechoslovakia, Israel and Turkey submitted films to the competition for the first time. The titles highlighted were the five nominated films, which came from France, Israel, Italy, Japan and Sweden. Georgios "Giorgos" Oikonomou (alternate spellings: ''Ikonomou'', ''Economou'', ''Ekonomou''; Greek: Γεώργιος "Γιώργος" Οικονόμου) is a retired Greek basketball player. Club career As a basketball player, he was 2.03 m. tall and the first center in Greece taller than 2 metres. During his career, he was the most valuable player of PAOK.
