Tre Giorni Son Che Nina
"Tre giorni son che Nina in letto senesta" (often called "Nina" or the "Siciliana") is an 18th Century song traditionally attributed to Pergolesi, but now more often to Vincenzo Legrenzo Ciampi (1719–1762). The song was one of the "Arie antiche" favourites of 19th Century salons associated with Alessandro Parisotti, and in the 20th Century was recorded by Enrico Caruso, Richard Tucker as well as more recently, by Alfredo Kraus and Ramon Vargas.''The Music Magazine/Musical Courier '' Volumes 141-142 1950- Page 35 "... perpetuates an old error. Giovanni Battista Pergolesi
Giovanni Battista Draghi (; 4 January 1710 – 16 or 17 March 1736), often referred to as Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (), was an Italian Baroque composer, violinist, and organist. His best-known works include his Stabat Mater and the opera ''La serva padrona'' (''The Maid Turned Mistress''). His compositions include operas and sacred music. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 26. Biography Born in Jesi in what is now the Province of Ancona (but was then part of the Papal States), he was commonly given the nickname "Pergolesi", a demonym indicating in Italian the residents of Pergola, Marche, the birthplace of his ancestors. Vincenzo Legrenzo Ciampi
Vincenzo Legrenzo Ciampi (2 April 1719 – 30 March 1762) was an Italian composer. He is best known today for a work that cannot be certainly ascribed to his pen, the song "Tre giorni son che Nina in letto senesta", formerly called Pergolesi's "Nina". Education and early career in Italy Ciampi was born in Piacenza and studied at the Naples Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini with Francesco Durante and Leonardo Leo.Van Boer 2012, p. 131. Alessandro Parisotti (24 July 1853 – 4 April 1913) was an Italian composer and music editor. Life and career Though also a composer, Alessandro Parisotti is better known today as the original editor of a collection of songs known as ''Arie antiche'' (''Arie antiche: ad una voce per canto e pianoforte'', Milan, 1885–1888). The original collection comprises three volumes of songs or arias published as a primer to study classical singing, but the three volumes have since been reduced to single-volumed extracts known as the '' 24 Italian Songs and Arias''. The original Arie Antiche are still available through Ricordi, Schirmer, and Kalmus. Richard Tucker (August 28, 1913January 8, 1975) was an American operatic tenor and cantor. Long associated with the Metropolitan Opera, Tucker's career was primarily centered in the United States. Early life Tucker was born Rivn (Rubin) Ticker in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Bessarabian Jewish parents who immigrated to the US in 1911. Alfredo Kraus Trujillo (; 24 November 192710 September 1999) was a distinguished Spanish tenor from the Canary islands (known professionally as Alfredo Kraus), particularly known for the artistry he brought to opera's bel canto roles.
