Transcona Collegiate Institute
Transcona Collegiate Institute (TCI) is a secondary education institution located in the Transcona suburb of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Transcona Collegiate teaches grades nine through twelve, with approximately 670 students and 60 staff members. Transcona Collegiate was opened in 1969, and in the following year an additional six classrooms were added. During the 1999–2000 school year a addition was added to the school, extending out to the west and north. River East Transcona School Division (RETSD) is a school division located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As the second largest school division in the province, it is composed of parts of what used to be two separate divisions that merged in 2002: the urban section (i.e., Transcona) of the Transcona-Springfield School Division; and the River East School Division. RETSD provides educational services to approximately 16,700 students in 42 schools, as well as operating the McLeod Education Centre for adult learning. Transcona
Transcona is a ward and suburb of Winnipeg, Manitoba, located about east of the downtown area. Until 1972, it was a separate municipality, having been incorporated first as the Town of Transcona on 6 April 1912 and then as the City of Transcona in 1961. Leonard Evans
Leonard Salusbury Evans (August 19, 1929 – January 2, 2016) was a Canadian politician in Manitoba. He was a member of the Manitoba legislature from 1969 to 1999 and was a Cabinet Minister in the governments of New Democratic Premiers Edward Schreyer and Howard Pawley. Early life and career The son of David Evans and Gwen Salusbury, he was born in Winnipeg and educated at Transcona Collegiate Institute, the University of Winnipeg, the University of Manitoba, Simon Fraser University and the University of Ottawa. He worked as an economist and a professor of economics before entering political life. Petric is a Canadian country music band composed of brothers Jason and Tom Petric from Transcona, Winnipeg, Manitoba, along with the brothers long time friend and band member, Jordan Day.
