The Bremen tramway network (german: Straßenbahnnetz Bremen) is a network of tramways forming part of the public transport system in Bremen, Germany. The network is currently operated by Bremer Straßenbahn AG (BSAG; Bremen Tramways Company Ltd.), and integrated in the Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Niedersachsen (VBN; Bremen/Lower Saxony Transport Association). , the network had 7 lines, extending over of route (up from of route in 2011). The enterprise opened a horse tramway line from Herdentor to Vahrster Brücke on 4 June 1876, extending the line to Horn in 1877. Bremen (Low German also: ''Breem'' or ''Bräm''), officially the City Municipality of Bremen (german: Stadtgemeinde Bremen, ), is the capital of the German state Free Hanseatic City of Bremen (''Freie Hansestadt Bremen''), a two-city-state consisting of the cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven. Bremen Airport (German: ''Flughafen Bremen'', ) is the international airport of the city and state of Bremen in Northern Germany. It is located south of the city and handled 2.66 million passengers in 2015. It mainly features flights to European metropolitan and leisure destinations. History Early years The beginnings of the airport date back to the early 20th century. The ''Bremer Verein für Luftschiffahrt'', a local aerospace club, conducted the first experimental flights at the present site in the summer of 1910, on what was then the parade ground of the local garrison. Lilienthal, Lower Saxony
Lilienthal is a municipality in the administrative district of Osterholz, Lower Saxony, Germany. It borders Bremen (Free Hanseatic City of Bremen). History Lilienthal belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen. Lilienthal monastery The history of the small town (without Town privileges) of Lilienthal goes back to its founding as a nunnery by the prince-archbishop Gerhard II. In 1232 construction was begun on a convent of the Order of the Cistercians under the name of ''Vallis Liliorum'' (), and the finished building was sanctified in 1264. During the 15th century, the cloister enjoyed a time of prosperity. After the Reformation and the conversion of the Cistercian nuns, it became a Lutheran Women's Convent, and until the end of the Thirty Years' War in 1648 it remained in deplorable conditions. Weserstadion
Weserstadion () is a multi-purpose stadium in Bremen, Germany. The Weserstadion is scenically situated on the north bank of the Weser River and is surrounded by lush green parks (the name 'Werder' is a regional German word for "river peninsula"). The city center is only about a kilometre away. It is the home stadium of German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. Artists that have performed at the stadium include Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Depeche Mode, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses and Van Halen, among others. The stadium originally included an athletics track, but that was partially removed in 2002 when the pitch was sunk by and the stands at the straights were lengthened to the new pitch.
