Hellenic Train S.A., formerly TrainOSE S.A. ( el, ΤραινΟΣΕ Α.Ε., pronounced ''trenosé'') is a private railway company in Greece which currently operates passenger and freight trains on OSE lines. TrainOSE was acquired in September 2017 by the Italian national railway company, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. The company was a subsidiary of the Hellenic Railways Organisation (OSE) until 2008, when it became an independent state-owned company until its privatisation in 2017. Hellenic Train employs train crews, operators and manages the most of rail services throughout the Greek railway network, leasing rolling stock owned by GAIOSE except for ETR 470 trains. In 2022 the company rebranded as Hellenic Train. History The company was a subsidiary of the Hellenic Railways Organisation (OSE) and has been since 2005. Proastiakos Thessaloniki
Proastiakos Thessaloniki, or Thessaloniki Suburban Railway ( el, Προαστιακός Σιδηρόδρομος Θεσσαλονίκης, ), is a three-line Proastiakos commuter rail service connecting Thessaloniki's New Railway Station with Edessa/Florina, Larissa and Serres. It is operated using Siemens Desiro multiple units ran by the TrainOSE, the passenger railway subsidiary of the Hellenic Railways Organisation. The Athens Suburban Railway, ( el, Προαστιακός Αθήνας, Proastiakós Athínas) is a commuter rail service that connects the city of Athens with its metropolitan area and other regions beyond Attica, including Corinthia, Boeotia, Euboea and Achaea. The Proastiakos ( el, Προαστιακός; "suburban") is Greece's Commuter rail service, run by Hellenic Train, on rail infrastructure owned by the Hellenic Railways Organisation (OSE) (lines) and GAIAOSE (buildings and Trains). These services connect a participating city's central railway station to important locations such as a city's port or airport, as well as its suburbs and occasionally nearby towns and cities. Piraeus–Platy Railway
The railway from Piraeus to Platy is an electrified double-track railway line that connects Athens to northern Greece and the rest of Europe. It constitutes the longest section of the mostly completed higher-speed rail line known as P.A.Th.E./P., which includes Greece's most important rail connection, that between Athens and Thessaloniki. FS Class ETR 470
ETR 470 (''ElettroTreno 470'') is a high-speed tilting electric multiple unit, which is now only operated by the Greek-Italian private company, Hellenic Train. Introduced in September 1996, nine units were built for the Italo-Swiss firm Cisalpino. They were made by Fiat Ferroviaria (now Alstom), and could tilt up to 8°. Thessaloniki–Bitola Railway
The railway from Thessaloniki to Bitola is a long railway line, that connects the port city Thessaloniki in Greece with Bitola in the Republic of North Macedonia, via Veroia, Edessa, Amyntaio and Florina. Palaiofarsalos–Kalambaka Railway
The Palaiofarsalos to Kalambaka railway is a standard-gauge railway line that connects Kalambaka with the mainline station of Palaiofarsalos in Thessaly, Greece. Originally opened as a metre-gauge railway in 1886, it was converted to standard gauge in 2001. Route The southern terminus of the line is Palaiofarsalos railway station near Farsala. The railway from Larissa to Volos ( el, Σιδηροδρομική γραμμή Λαρίσης - Βόλου, Sidirodromikí grammí Lárisas - Vólou) is a standard-gauge railway that connects Larissa with the coastal port city of Volos in Thessaly, Greece.
