Valentine la Touche McEntee, 1st Baron McEntee CBE (16 January 1871 – 11 February 1953) was an Irish-born Labour Member of Parliament (MP) in the United Kingdom. Background McEntee was born in Kingstown (now Dún Laoghaire) near Dublin, the son of William Charles McEntee, a physician, and Catherine, daughter of Valentine Burchell. Career McEntee was a carpenter by trade. From 1896 to 1899, like Con Lehane, he was a member of James Connolly's Irish Socialist Republican Party. After a brief stay in the United States he moved to London and became a member of Social Democratic Federation (SDF), whence he went on to help found the Socialist Party of Great Britain in June 1904. So far as is known McEntee was not at all active in the SPGB. William La Touche Congreve, (12 March 1891 – 20 July 1916) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Life and career He was at school at Summer Fields School, Oxford, and then at Eton, leaving in 1907. On 1 June 1916 he married Pamela Cynthia Maude, the daughter of actors Cyril Maude and Winifred Emery. He fought in the American War of Independence and became a prominent figure of the French Revolutionary Wars and of the Napoleonic wars. Born into a noble family of naval officers, Latouche enlisted at the age of 13. He rose to become a competent frigate captain, battling several British ships during the American War of Independence. Jeremiah La Touche Cuyler (June 4, 1768 – May 7, 1839) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Georgia. Early life Cuyler was born on June 4, 1768, in New York City, Province of New York, British America. He was the sixth child of Jeanne ( Latouche) Cuyler and Telamon Cuyler (1732–1772), a prominent merchant and trader. When he was just five months old, his family moved to Savannah, Georgia, where his father died of dropsy in September 1772.
