Tottijärvi
Tottijärvi is a village and a former municipality in Nokia, Finland. It is located by the lake Pyhäjärvi, about 30 kilometres southwest of the city of Tampere. The population of Tottijärvi is 717 (2008). History The history of Tottijärvi dates back to the early 14th century. According to a legend, it was named after the dog of the chieftain Matti Kurki. Kurki drowned his dog ''Totti'' into a lake, as it was making noise during an ambush and later the dog began to haunt him. The Tottijärvi Manor was established in 1416. It was owned by the Kurki of Laukko family. The manor was destroyed in the 1918 Finnish Civil War. Tottijärvi was originally a part of the Greater Pirkkala, which was one of the 10 original sockens of the historical province of Satakunta, and later a part of the Vesilahti Vesilahti ( sv, Vesilahti, also ) is a municipality of Finland. Nokia, Finland
Nokia () is a town and a municipality on the banks of the Nokianvirta River (part of the Kokemäki River) in the region of Pirkanmaa, some west of Tampere in Finland. The distance to Tampere Airport from Nokia is using road connections when circling Lake Pyhäjärvi. Its neighboring municipalities are Hämeenkyrö, Pirkkala, Sastamala, Tampere, Vesilahti and Ylöjärvi. Matti Kurki
Matti Kurki, in Swedish ''Matts Kurck'', was a legendary Finnish chieftain of the birkarls. If he was a real person, he is thought to have lived in the late 13th century, at that time when king Magnus the Barnlock ruled the Kingdom of Sweden. Folklore tales tell about Matti Kurki, particularly in the Satakunta province (Vesilahti, Pirkkala), but also in Lapland. The first written reference to Matti Kurki dates from the 17th century. The best known tale concerns his duel with ''Pohto'', a Russian- Karelian warrior. The battle would have taken place near the Manor of Laukko. Matti Kurki was supposedly the ancestor of the Finnish noble family of Kurki. The lands of the Laukko manor were, according to legends, either compensation for subjugating some of the Sami to the Swedish crown by extracting taxes from them, or for his valor and deeds in the wars against the Danish enemies of the King of Sweden, or defending the eastern frontier from Novgorodian raiding parties. The population density is . The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The name of municipality literally means "water bay". The Vesilahti municipality headlined the case of "pink house", which is owned one of local inhabitants, Katri Hakola.
