Torrens Road, Adelaide
Torrens Road is an arterial road in the northwestern suburbs of Adelaide, Australia. The road is aligned southeast to northwest and is parallel with Port Road for most of its length. Route It commences at the City Ring Route along the edge of North Adelaide, and heads northwest. Major roads that intersect Torrens Road include Churchill Road (A22), South Road, and Regency Road. It meets the Outer Harbor railway line in Rosewater, and ceases a short distance later, a couple of hundred metres south of Grand Junction Road (A16). The short section between Park Terrace and Churchill Road at the southeastern end of Torrens Road is designated route A22, which then follows Churchill Road. An overpass of the Gawler and Port Augusta railways is currently under construction to eliminate the level crossing; it sees an average of 23,000 vehicles a day, and the level crossing gates can be down for 22% of the time during peak hours. Ovingham, South Australia
Ovingham is an inner northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the cities of Charles Sturt and Prospect. Geography The suburb is located between Park Terrace and the Gawler railway line. It is bisected by Torrens Road. History Ovingham was established in 1875 by William Whinham. The portion of Ovingham in the City of Charles Sturt (the triangle bounded by the railway line, Torrens Road and Park Terrace) was previously considered to be part of Bowden, known as ''Bowden-on-the-Hill''. A proposal to rename it to Hillside in 1929 was favorably received locally, but rejected by the government. Ovingham Post Office opened on 1 November 1879 but was renamed Bowden in 1970. Woodville is a suburb of Adelaide, situated about northwest of Adelaide city centre. It lies within the City of Charles Sturt. The postcode of Woodville is 5011. Woodville is bound by Cheltenham Parade to the west, Torrens Road to the north, Port Road to the south and Park Street to the east, excluding the area of Cheltenham Park Racecourse. Armada Arndale is a shopping centre located in the suburb of Kilkenny in South Australia and is managed by Armada Funds Management. St Clair, South Australia
St Clair is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, and administered by the City of Charles Sturt. St Clair is geographically located with in the Hundred of Yatala, and was first recorded as the name for the suburb on 6 November 2012 by the Surveyor General of South Australia. The suburb is bounded by Cheltenham Parade, Torrens Road, Woodville Road and the Outer Harbor train line. The Cheltenham Park Racecourse was located here up until the late 2000s and new houses were built in the years after that. Cheltenham Park Racecourse
Cheltenham Park Racecourse was a horse racing track located in the suburb of Cheltenham in Adelaide, South Australia, between around 1921 and 2008. History The Port Adelaide Racing Club began thoroughbred racing at the course and in 1921 the club bought the site on which the course stands for £25,000. Administration of the course was taken over by the South Australian Jockey Club in 1975. The racecourse was also once served by now-demolished Cheltenham Racecourse railway station on the Outer Harbor railway line. In November 2007, the SAJC sold the racecourse land for A$85 million for a new housing development. It was proposed that the proceeds of the sale be used to help fund the Victoria Park Racecourse redevelopment. Outer Harbor Railway Line
The Outer Harbor railway line is a suburban branch line in Adelaide, South Australia. It runs from Adelaide station through the north western suburbs to Port Adelaide and Outer Harbor. It is 21.9 kilometres in length, and shares part of its run with the Grange line. It is operated by Adelaide Metro. Since 2016, the line has been used as a shuttle for cruise liner passengers heading for Adelaide, with additional services provided. South Road and its southern section as Main South Road outside of Adelaide is a major north–south conduit connecting Adelaide and the Fleurieu Peninsula, in South Australia. It is one of Adelaide's most important arterial and bypass roads. It is long, and is designated part of route R1 within central Adelaide, and beyond as route A7.
