Toronto Transportation Services is the division of the Municipal government of Toronto, City of Toronto which manages transport infrastructure within public Right of way, rights of way in Toronto. Metro Toronto Roads And Transportation
Metro Toronto Roads and Traffic (later Metro Transportation) was a department within the former Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto. The department was responsible for maintaining major arterial roads, bridges and local freeways systems (Gardiner Expressway, Don Valley Parkway and W.R. Allen Road) in Metropolitan Toronto and all traffic signal-controlled intersections. Metro roads were akin to county roads, but were not signposted with numbers. The department did have influence over the design of the city. One example is the width of Yonge Street. When the Toronto Eaton Centre was built, it was setback from the street as to allow the possibility of a future lane of traffic. It wasn't until the late 1990s that the mall was allowed to expand out towards Yonge. East York
East York is a former administrative district and municipality within Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From 1967 to 1998, it was officially the Borough of East York, a semi-autonomous borough within the upper-tier municipality of Metropolitan Toronto. The borough was dissolved in 1998 when it was amalgamated with the other lower-tier municipalities of Metropolitan Toronto to form the new "megacity" of Toronto. Prior to its amalgamation, East York was Canada's last remaining borough. It is separated by the Don River from the former City of Toronto. Traditional East York is southeast of the river, and the neighbourhoods of Leaside, Bennington Heights and densely populated Thorncliffe Park are northwest of the river. Toronto Fire Services is currently the largest municipal fire department in Canada. Red Light Camera
A red light camera (short for red light running camera ) is a type of traffic enforcement camera that photographs a vehicle that has entered an intersection after the traffic signal controlling the intersection has turned red. By automatically photographing vehicles that run red lights, the photo is evidence that assists authorities in their enforcement of traffic laws. Generally the camera is triggered when a vehicle enters the intersection (passes the stop-bar) after the traffic signal has turned red. Typically, a law enforcement official will review the photographic evidence and determine whether a violation occurred. A citation is then usually mailed to the owner of the vehicle found to be in violation of the law. A winter service vehicle (WSV), or snow removal vehicle, is a vehicle specially designed or adapted to clear thoroughfares of ice and snow. Winter service vehicles are usually based on a dump truck chassis, with adaptations allowing them to carry specially designed snow removal equipment. Many authorities also use smaller vehicles on sidewalks, footpaths, and cycleways. Road maintenance agencies and contractors in temperate or polar areas often own several winter service vehicles, using them to keep the roads clear of snow and ice and safe for driving during winter.
