Cookeville is the county seat and largest city of Putnam County, Tennessee, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, its population was reported to be 34,842. It is recognized as one of the country's micropolitan areas, or smaller cities which function as significant regional economic hubs. Mpumalanga () is a province of South Africa. The name means "East", or literally "The Place Where the Sun Rises" in the Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebele and Zulu languages. Mpumalanga lies in eastern South Africa, bordering Eswatini and Mozambique. It constitutes 6.5% of South Africa's land area. This page documents confirmed tornadoes from August to September 2020 via various weather forecast offices of the National Weather Service. Based on the 1991–2010 averaging period, 83 tornadoes occur across the United States throughout August, while 74 occur in September. A significant number of tornadoes in both months came from the tropics. August had 180 tornadoes, which was well above average, with 55 of them coming as a result of Hurricanes Hurricane Isaias, Isaias and Hurricane Laura, Laura.
