Tore Jensen
Tore Jensen (born 19 May 1935 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (trumpet, cornet and flugelhorn) and bandleader, known from a series of Dixieland bands and album releases. Career Jensen was first known through the local band «Hot Saints» (1953–60), whereupon he was involved in the band «Big Chief Jazzband» and «Norwegian Dixieland All Stars». Together with Bjørn Stokstad he toured with his own band as in Germany (1961), before the two established the eponymous Stokstad/Jensen Trad.Band (1962–), where all the members was honorary citizen of New Orleans (1984). They also played a series of gigs at Moldejazz from 1963, and a number of festivals and concerts outside Norway. He also worked in a swing jazz quintet with Svein Gusrud and Peter Opsvik, and played on releases by bands like «Norske Rytmekonger», «Swingkameratene», «Christiania 12» and «Mississippi Jazzband». Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. First awarded in 1973, the prize honours musicians from the previous year; it is still awarded annually, usually in January or February. The Spellemann committee, composed of members of IFPI Norway and FONO, manages the award and acts as the judge. 21 categories are currently awarded, in addition to other honorary and industry awards the committee may give. Terje Venaas
Terje Venaas (born 30 March 1947 in Molde, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (upright bass), known from dozens of recordings and a number of international cooperation. Career Venaas started playing music within several local bands in the Molde area from 1962, among others within his brother Åge Venås Orchestra (including Geir Schumann piano and Svein Jens Thorsø). He debuted on Moldejazz in 1967, and moved to Oslo where he joined the music scene Club 7 (1967–). There he started performing with musicians like Jan Garbarek, Espen Rud and Carl Magnus Neumann, and debuted on record with Terje Rypdal in 1968. He is one of the most prominent Norwegian jazz artists, recording with international jazz greats as within Per Husby Trio featuring Chet Baker (''The improviser'', Cadence Jazz Records), and performed with Dexter Gordon (Club 7, 1972), Toots Thielemans (1986), Michel Petrucciani (Kongsberg Jazz Festival, 1986). Carl Morten Iversen
Carl Morten Iversen (born 1 May 1948) is a Norwegian jazz musician (upright bass), and the son of jazz violinist Arild Iversen (1920–65). He is known from numerous recordings and has long been central to the Oslo Jazz scene. Career Iversen was born in Oslo, and began playing as an accompanist for folk singers from 1965; among others, he played with Lars Klevstrand at Moldejazz Festival in 1968 and 1973, attended an album with Lillebjørn Nilsen in 1974, and got into jazz in 1970. He studied jazz in the United States until 1972, and when returning he played in a variety of bands from 1973, including with the Balke brothers, Jon Balke Quartet and Ditlef Eckhoff Quintet 1973–74, Magni Wentzel Quintet 1974–76 and 1979–84 with the album ''Sofies plass'' (1983), Guttorm Guttormsen Quartet 1974–80 with the albums ''Soturnudi'' (1975) and ''Albufeira'' (1979). Thorgeir Stubø
Thorgeir Stubø (12 November 1943 – 22 October 1986) was a Norwegian jazz musician (guitar) and composer. He was the father of Jazz guitarist Håvard, jazz singer Kjersti and theater director Eirik Stubø, and grandfather of electronica musician Mathias Stubø.
