Tonypandy Railway Station
Tonypandy railway station is a railway station serving the town of Tonypandy in south Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. The station cannot be directly accessed from Tonypandy, a scenic bridge over the river Rhondda must be used as the station adjoins a mountain. History The original Pandy station was opened in 1841 by the Taff Vale Railway, and was situated opposite Walter Coffin's Dinas Middle Colliery. The station was closed in 1886 and later demolished, to be replaced by Dinas Station, built about 200 yards to the north. The Tonypandy and Trealaw station, built of red bricks and opened in 1908, was opposite the entrance to Foundry Road at the centre of two bridges, one of which crossed the river to Tonypandy and the other which crossed the railway lines to Judges’ Hall and to Trealaw. Tonypandy
Tonypandy is a town, community and electoral ward located in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan, Wales, lying in the Rhondda Fawr Valley. A former industrial coal mining town, the town was the scene of the 1910 Tonypandy riots. The community boundaries of Tonypandy are drawn relatively tightly around the central part of the urban area. According to the 2011 UK Census, the population of the community was 3,750. The Office for National Statistics defines a larger "Tonypandy built-up area" covering much of the Rhondda Fawr valley and the lower Rhondda Fach valley, which had a population of 62,545 in 2011. They also define a smaller "Tonypandy built-up area sub division" which had a population of 17,789. Leanne Wood
Leanne Wood (born 13 December 1971) is a Welsh politician who served as the leader of Plaid Cymru from March 2012 to September 2018, and served as a Member of the Senedd (MS) from 2003 to 2021. Born in the Rhondda, she was elected as to the then National Assembly for Wales in 2003, representing South Wales Central until 2016, when she was elected for Rhondda. She lost her seat to Welsh Labour at the 2021 Senedd election. Ideologically, Wood identifies as a socialist, republican and proponent of Welsh independence. Llwynypia railway station is a railway station serving the town of Llwynypia in Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. It was first opened on this site by the Taff Vale Railway in 1863. or 1871. Dinas Rhondda Railway Station
Dinas Rhondda railway station is a railway station serving the Dinas, Penygraig and Trealaw districts of Tonypandy, Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. The station has one platform with one small station shelter and is accessible by a small connector road. There is evidence of a previous platform, which originally served North bound trains to Treherbert, but this was left abandoned after rationalisation in 1982, which saw the removal of the northbound line. Today the platform is heavily overgrown. It has a car park, even though it is one of the smaller stations on the line.
