Tony Wilson (radio Presenter)
Tony Wilson is a Melbourne-based Australian radio and television personality, writer and public speaker. He gained notoriety as the winner of the second series of the ABC television show, ''Race Around the World'' in 1998, and has since become somewhat of a cult figure in Melbourne radio, television and print media. Early life Prior to gaining attention in Australian media, he attended Camberwell Grammar School, and was drafted as a tall forward by the Hawthorn Football Club and intended embarking on a career as an AFL footballer, but was cut after less than one season partly due to chronic injury. Race Around The World
''Race Around the World'' was an Australian travel documentary and competition series produced by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 1997 and 1998. The series was brought to the ABC by filmmaker Michael Rubbo, and was based on the Canadian television series ''Course destination monde'' (1988–1999). Both seasons were hosted by Richard Fidler, a former member of the Doug Anthony All Stars comedy group. Premise For each series, eight "racers" were selected from video auditions from the Australian general public. The only stipulation for the video auditions was a lead in of ten seconds of black. John Safran submitted his audition with ten seconds of yellow. The successful applicants undertook a brief course in documentary film-making, before deciding on an itinerary for their journey around the world. The Bologna Children's Book Fair or La fiera del libro per ragazzi is the leading professional fair for children's books in the world. Since 1963, it is held yearly for four days in March or April in Bologna, Italy. Francis Leach (born 1968) is an Australian radio announcer, sports editor and journalist. Career Leach began his career at Triple J in the early 1990s hosting the ''Three Hours of Power'' show, the weekly late night heavy metal show. Later on he transferred to ''Creatures of the Spotlight'', the Sunday night arts show. Lindy Burns is an Australian radio presenter. Career Burns started in radio at 1233 ABC Newcastle co-presenting the Saturday morning sports program "All in the Game" she has been a sports commentator with Triple J and presenting the statewide Sunday Show in New South Wales. ''Get This'' was an Australian radio comedy show which aired on Triple M and was hosted by Tony Martin and Ed Kavalee, with contributions from panel operator, Richard Marsland. A different guest co-host was featured nearly every day on the show and included music played throughout. On the 15 October 2007 episode, the ''Get This'' team announced that Triple M/Austereo would not be renewing the show for 2008. The final broadcast was on 23 November 2007. During its lifetime and since its cancellation, ''Get This'' developed a strong cult following. Richard Kemble Marsland (5 September 1976 – 6 December 2008) was an Australian comedy writer, actor, comedian and radio personality. Career Radio Marsland started his radio career in Adelaide on the SAFM breakfast show with Greg Fleet, Marty Sheargold and James Brayshaw. Anthony Francis Martin (born 10 June 1964) is a New Zealand comedian, writer and actor, who has had a successful TV, radio, stand-up and film career in Australia. Career 1980s A former stand-up comedian and commercial voice-over-man, Tony Martin moved to Brisbane, Australia, from New Zealand when he was 21 to work as a radio copywriter. Having worked in radio and amateur theatre back in NZ, Martin approached the ABCTV's ''The D-Generation'' in 1986 to work as a writer only to be told that filming on the first series had been completed.
