Tony Parsons (Canadian Journalist)
Tony Parsons (born 1939) is a Canadian broadcaster whose career has spanned more than 50 years, and he has anchored the second most-watched local evening Television newscast in North America, the ''News Hour'' on Global BC in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was the co-anchor of '' CBC News: Vancouver'' on CBUT-DT with Gloria Macarenko, and the 10 PM newscast on CHEK-DT. Parsons' father was a flight-lieutenant in the Royal Air Force. His mother was of Italian descent. His family immigrated to Canada from England in 1948, settling in Feversham, Ontario. After a year studying radio and television arts at the Ryerson Institute in Toronto, he looked for work at Ontario radio stations and eventually shortened his name from Parsonage to Tony Parsons. Gosport
Gosport ( ) is a town and non-metropolitan borough on the south coast of Hampshire, South East England. At the 2011 Census, its population was 82,662. Jack Webster (journalist)
John Edgar Webster, (April 15, 1918 – March 2, 1999) was a Scottish-born Canadian journalist, radio, and television personality, regarded as "king of the Vancouver airwaves" from the 1950s to his retirement, in 1988. Early life Webster was born in Glasgow, the son of a Clydeside ironturner. He left school at age 14 to enter into newspaper businesses as a teenager. He worked in Glasgow and on Fleet Street. When World War II broke out, Webster joined the British Army and rose to the rank of major, with most of his six years' service spent in the Middle East. Bruce Hutchison
William Bruce Hutchison, (5 June 1901– 14 September 1992) was a Canadian writer and journalist. Born in Prescott, Ontario, Canada, Hutchison was educated in public schools in Victoria, British Columbia. He married Dorothy Kidd McDiarmid in 1925, around the same time that he began his journalism career as a political reporter in Ottawa. He was associate editor for ''The Winnipeg Free Press'' from 1944 to 1950. Hutchison was also editor of the ''Victoria Daily Times'' from 1950 to 1963, for which he had previously worked as a high-school journalist in approximately 1918. In 1963 Hutchison was made the editorial director to ''The Vancouver Sun''. Hutchison would write for ''The Vancouver Sun'' until his death in 1992. Bill Good
Bill Good Jr. (born 1945) is a Canadian television personality and host of talk radio shows, all in the province of British Columbia. After 21 years with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, first doing radio before moving to Television news, he hosted talk radio at CKNW for 26 years. He also anchored evening news broadcasts on BCTV and CIVT between 1993 and 2010. Career He worked for CFPR in Prince Rupert. That led to a permanent job at a newly opened station CHTK-FM in the same city. After a year he went to CFAX in Victoria and joined the CBC in 1967. The Global Television Network (more commonly called Global, or occasionally Global TV) is a Canadian English-language terrestrial television network. WIC Western International Communications Ltd. (or WIC) was a Canadian media company that operated from 1982 to 2000, with operations including broadcast and specialty television, radio, and satellite distribution via a majority interest in Canadian Satellite Communications (or Cancom). The company itself was acquired by CanWest Global Communications, which kept most of WIC's broadcast television stations and a variety of related television production assets. ''Canada Tonight'' is a Canadian television newscast which aired on stations owned by Western International Communications (WIC) from 1993 to 2001. It was produced out of the studio of CHAN-TV (BCTV) in Burnaby, British Columbia. There were two versions of the newscast; the one seen outside BC was anchored by Tony Parsons, and the one seen in that province was anchored by Bill Good.
