Tony Johnstone
Anthony Alastair Johnstone (born 2 May 1956) is a Zimbabwean professional golfer. Early life Johnstone was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia. He attended Christian Brothers College. Professional career In 1979, Johnstone turned professional and has spent his career playing mainly on the Southern African Tour and the European Tour. He won six times in Europe and finished a career best seventh on the European Tour Order of Merit in 1992. His most prestigious win came at the 1992 British PGA Championship. He won seventeen times on the Southern African Tour and topped the tour's Order of Merit in 1988–89 and 1993–94. He has represented Zimbabwe in international competition many times. In 2008, he won his first EST event, the Jersey Seniors Classic. He won his second event on the Senior tour in 2009 at the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters. Bulawayo
Bulawayo (, ; Ndebele: ''Bulawayo'') is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, and the largest city in the country's Matabeleland region. The city's population is disputed; the 2022 census listed it at 665,940, while the Bulawayo City Council claimed it to be about 1.2 million. The 1992 Volvo PGA Championship was the 38th edition of the Volvo PGA Championship, an annual professional golf tournament on the European Tour. The 1992 European Tour, titled as the 1992 Volvo Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 21st official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour. The European Tour ventured to East Asia for the first time, with the addition of the Johnnie Walker Asian Classic in Thailand to the tour schedule. The season was made up of 38 tournaments counting for the Order of Merit, and five non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won by England's Nick Faldo for the second time; he previously won the title in 1983. Eamonn Darcy
Eamonn Christopher Darcy (born 7 August 1952) is an Irish professional golfer. He won four times on the European Tour and played in the Ryder Cup four times. Professional career Darcy, with a handicap of 12, turned professional at the age of 16, in 1968,.becoming an assistant at Grange Golf Club in Dublin. The following year he moved to Erewash Valley Golf Club in Derbyshire, staying until 1979. Darcy's tournament career coincided with the start of the European Tour in 1972. He first came to notice in 1974 when he was a joint runner-up in the Nigerian Open. In Europe he was tied for third place in the Portuguese Open and tied sixth in the Dunlop Masters, finishing 36th in the Order of Merit. Darcy finished third on the Order of Merit in 1975 and made that year's Ryder Cup team, his first of four performances. Malcolm MacKenzie
Malcolm John Mackenzie (born 30 September 1961) is an English professional golfer. Mackenzie was born in Sheffield. He turned professional in 1980 and has spent most of his career playing on the European Tour. His best Order of Merit ranking was 25th in 1990, one of twelve times he made the top 100. He has just one European Tour win to his name, the 2002 Novotel Perrier Open de France, achieved during his 20th season and in his 509th appearance on tour. 509 appearances is the European Tour record for a first win: Richard Bland is second with 478 appearances and Roger Chapman is third with 472. Murphy's Cup
The Murphy's Cup was a golf tournament on the European Tour from 1989 to 1991. In its inaugural year it was held opposite the PLM Open The PLM Open was a golf tournament that was played in Sweden until 1990. Founded in 1983, it was a European Tour event from 1986, and in its final year it had a prize fund of £350,000, which was mid-range for a European Tour event at that time. Michael King (golfer)
Michael Geoffrey King (born 15 February 1950) is an English professional golfer. King was born in Reading, Berkshire. As an amateur, he won the Lytham Trophy in 1973, and played in the Walker Cup in 1969 and 1973. King began a career as a stockbroker, but following the stock market crash of 1974 he became a professional golfer. He spent many years on the European Tour. 1979 was his best season by far: he won his sole European Tour title at the SOS Talisman TPC; was joint runner-up in the Belgian Open; made only appearances in the Ryder Cup and the World Cup; and finished the year in fifth place on the European Tour's Order of Merit. His career was curtailed by ankylosing spondylitis.
