1992 Volvo PGA Championship
The 1992 Volvo PGA Championship was the 38th edition of the Volvo PGA Championship, an annual professional golf tournament on the European Tour. It was held 22–25 May at the West Course of Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England, a suburb southwest of London. Tony Johnstone shot a final-round 65 to win his first Volvo PGA Championship by two shots ahead of Gordon Brand Jnr and José MarÃa Olazábal. 1992 European Tour
The 1992 European Tour, titled as the 1992 Volvo Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 21st official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour. The European Tour ventured to East Asia for the first time, with the addition of the Johnnie Walker Asian Classic in Thailand to the tour schedule. The season was made up of 38 tournaments counting for the Order of Merit, and five non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won by England's Nick Faldo for the second time; he previously won the title in 1983. Faldo won four official-money tournaments during the season, including The Open Championship, and also added victories in two approved special events. Mark Mouland
Mark Mouland (born 23 April 1961) is a Welsh professional golfer. Mouland was born in St. Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan, and is the son of six times Welsh champion Sid Mouland. In 1976, he became the youngest ever winner of the British Boys Championship. He turned professional in 1981. By 1986, Mouland was well established on the European Tour, winning that year's Car Care Plan International and finishing 30th on the Order of Merit. He broke his right ankle and left foot in a car crash later that year, but recovered to record the only two top-20 Order of Merit finishes of his career in 1987 (16th) and 1988 (18th). The 1988 KLM Dutch Open was his second and last win on the European Tour. He maintained steady form for many years, last finishing in the top hundred on the Order of Merit in 2001. José MarÃa Cañizares
José MarÃa Cañizares (born 18 February 1947) is a Spanish golfer. Cañizares was born in Madrid. He turned professional in 1967 and made the top hundred on the European Tour Order of Merit every year from its first season in 1972 through to 1993. He placed in the top ten five times, with a best ranking of fourth in 1983. He won five events on the tour. Cañizares was a member of four European Ryder Cup teams and had a record of 5 wins, 4 losses and two ties, including 2.5 points in four singles matches. In 1985 his singles victory over Fuzzy Zoeller rubber-stamped a European win that took the trophy from the Americans for the first time in 28 years. Eoghan O'Connell (golfer)
Eoghan O'Connell (born 13 August 1995) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Wrexham. He began his youth playing career in the Republic of Ireland, joined the academy of Scottish club Celtic in 2011 and made his first-team debut three years later. While at the club he was loaned to Oldham Athletic, Cork City and Walsall. Gary Evans (golfer)
Gary Evans (born 22 February 1969) is an English professional golfer. Evans was born in Rustington, West Sussex. As an amateur, he won the Brabazon Trophy in 1990 and 1991 (shared both times), and represented Great Britain & Ireland in the 1991 Walker Cup. He turned professional later that year. Evans earned membership of the European Tour on his first visit to the qualifying school. He was a consistent performer on the European Tour throughout his career, finishing inside the top 100 on the Order Of Merit every season he played from 1992 through 2004 (he missed the 1995 season with a wrist injury), with a best of 21st place in 2002. Magnus Sunesson
Arvid Magnus Sunesson (born 26 March 1964) is a Swedish professional golfer who played on the European Tour between 1987 and 1994. Amateur career Sunesson won the unofficial 1978 Swedish Youth Championship, Colgate Cup, at his age level (14 years old). The year after, his one year younger clubmate at Landskrona Golf Club, Magnus Persson, won the same category and the two of them was considered among the most promising young golfers in the country at the time. Johan Ryström
Johan Börje Ryström (born 13 January 1964) is a Swedish professional golfer. Ryström grew up in Köping. He started playing golf at age six and was a scratch golfer by age fifteen. in August 1986, Ryström won the Nordic Championship over 72 holes in Hvide Klit, Denmark. Later that year he represented Sweden at the Eisenhower Trophy in Caracas, Venezuela, finishing 4th with his team and 9th individually. Andrew Sherborne (born 11 March 1961) is an English professional golfer. Sherborne was born in Bristol. He was the leading amateur at The Open Championship in 1984 and turned professional later that year. He played on the European Tour for nearly twenty years, winning the 1991 Madrid Open and the 1992 Peugeot Spanish Open. Jamie Spence
James Stephen Spence (born 26 May 1963) is an English professional golfer. Career Spence was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. He turned professional in 1985 and has finished in the top 100 on the European Tour Order of Merit more than a dozen times, with a best placing of tenth in 1992. His two European Tour wins came at the 1992 Canon European Masters and the 2000 Moroccan Open. In 2003 he succeeded Mark James as the Chairman of The European Tour's Tournament Committee. Peter Senior
Peter Albert Charles Senior (born 31 July 1959) is an Australian professional golfer who has won more than twenty tournaments around the world. Senior has competed mainly on the PGA Tour of Australasia, where he has had the most success and won the Order of Merit on four occasions, and the European Tour. He has also played occasionally on the Japan Golf Tour and the United States-based PGA Tour. Senior has represented Australia in international competitions several times, and was a member of the International Team at the first two stagings of the Presidents Cup.
