Anthony (Tony) Andersen is a Labrador Inuit politician who serves on the Nunatsiavut Assembly. Personal life He was born to Edgar Andersen and Muriel Andersen. His brother Wally Andersen is also currently a member of the Nunatsiavut Assembly and so is his nephew Thomas Evans. Nunatsiavut
Nunatsiavut (; iu, italics=no, ᓄᓇᑦᓯᐊᕗᑦ) is an Autonomous administrative division, autonomous area claimed by the Inuit in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The settlement area includes territory in Labrador extending to the Quebec border. In 2002, the Labrador Inuit Association submitted a proposal for limited autonomy to the government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The constitution was ratified on December 1, 2005, at which time the Labrador Inuit Association ceased to exist, and the new Government of Nunatsiavut was established, initially being responsible for health, education and cultural affairs. It is also responsible for setting and conducting elections, the first of which was executed in October 2006. An election for the ordinary members of the Nunatsiavut Assembly was held on May 4, 2010. Randy Edmunds (politician)
Randy Edmunds is a Canadian politician in Newfoundland and Labrador. He was elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in the 2011 provincial election. A member of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador, he represented the electoral district of Torngat Mountains until 2019. Personal life Edmunds is the son of William "Bill" Edmunds (1932-1983), co-founder of the Labrador Inuit Association (predecessor to Nunatsiavut) and Ruth Flowers (1940-2015), an advocate for women's issues in Labrador. Edmunds is the owner and operator of the Adlavik Inn in Makkovik. He is married to Lori Dyson who unsuccessfully sought the Liberal nomination for Lake Melville and currently serves on the town council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. William Andersen III
William Andersen III is a former politician in Labrador, Canada. He represented Torngat Mountains in the Newfoundland House of Assembly from 1993 to 1996. The son of Andrew Andersen and Christiana Lampe, he was born in Okkak Bay, Labrador. Andersen married Jan Woodford. He was a wildlife officer from 1979 to 1984. Andersen served as mayor of Nain from 1978 to 1984. He was president of the Labrador Inuit Association from 1984 to 1993. He was elected to the provincial assembly in 1993, winning by only three votes after a judicial recount. Andersen did not run for reelection in 1996. Wally Andersen
Wally Andersen (born July 31, 1951) is a former Liberal Member of the House of Assembly in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. He was first elected in 1996 in the riding Torngat Mountains and was re-elected twice. The son of Edgar Andersen and Muriel Lucy, he was born in Makkovik, Labrador and was educated in North West River. In 1975, he married Marie Delaney. Andersen was manager for the government stores in Labrador from 1974 to 1996. He was a member of the council for Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Andersen served 12 years as president of the local hockey association. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary charged Wally Anderson on July 23, 2007, with fraud, uttering a forged document and breach of trust in connection with the multimillion-dollar legislative spending scandal.
