Anthony Havelock-Allan
Sir Anthony James Allan Havelock-Allan, 4th Baronet (28 February 1904 – 11 January 2003) was a British film producer and screenwriter whose credits included ''This Happy Breed'', '' Blithe Spirit'', '' Great Expectations'', '' Oliver Twist'', the 1968 version of '' Romeo and Juliet'' and ''Ryan's Daughter''. Personal life and career Havelock-Allan was born at the family home of Blackwell Grange near Darlington, County Durham, and was educated at Charterhouse and schools in Switzerland. Before becoming a film producer, he worked as a stockbroker, jeweller, record company executive and cabaret manager. In 1935, Havelock-Allan joined the short-lived British and Dominions Imperial Studios, producing films with them like '' Lancashire Luck'' (1937) until and even shortly after the studios burnt down in 1936. John Hubbard (actor)
John Hubbard (April 14, 1914 – November 6, 1988) was an American television and film actor. Career MGM changed Hubbard's professional name to Anthony Allen and cast him in modest feature films and short subjects for one year. In 1939, Hal Roach signed John Hubbard (under his given name) as one of five promising young actors with "star" potential (the other four were Lon Chaney, Jr., Victor Mature, Carole Landis, and William Bendix). Roach saw something in Hubbard, whose handsome features lent themselves to romantic roles while his dialogue skills allowed him to play farce comedy. He was showcased in ''The Housekeeper's Daughter'' (1939) and '' Turnabout'' (1940), but when Roach abandoned full-length features for shorter featurettes, Hubbard found roles elsewhere. John Anthony Allan
John Anthony Allan (27 January 1937 – 15 April 2021), sometime cited as Tony Allan, was a British geographer. He was awarded the Stockholm Water Prize in 2008 for his revolutionary virtual water concept. Although being an emeritus of the School of Oriental and African Studies and King's College London of the University of London, he still acted as a teaching Professor at King's College London. Education Allan studied at Durham University from 1955-1958, graduating with a first-class B.A in Geography. He commenced doctoral studies in 1966 at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, completing a PhD on water management in Libya in 1971. Tony Allan
Tony Allan (22 September 1949 – 9 July 2004) was a British broadcaster and voice over artist. He broadcast almost exclusively on pirate radio stations and was highly regarded for his professionalism, his distinctive voice and clear diction, and for his ability to produce highly professional commercials and promotions. Career Allan was 17 years old when he first worked for the pirate radio station Radio Scotland between 1966 and 1967. He had originally intended to work on another pirate station, Radio Caroline, but was rejected due to his age. When the Marine Offences Broadcasting Act (1967) was passed, he was the last DJ to broadcast live from the ship before managing director Tommy Shields's pre-recorded closedown programme. He subsequently worked for Granada Television as a voice-over artist, and in Europe. Tony Allan (born in Pukekohe, Auckland Region) is a New Zealand jockey He started his apprenticeship at age 16 to Grant Searle in Levin. He said he was inspired to become a jockey by his late father who would frequently take him to the Levin racecourse. He is best known for riding Empire Rose to victory in the 1988 Melbourne Cup. Over the course of his racing career Tony accomplished 12 Group 1 wins. Notable wins The following are some of the major races Tony has won in his career. Career In 2003, Allan admitted to using methamphetamine. However, he has subsequently worked hard to change his lifestyle and become clean. Tony retired in 2005 and moved to Japan for a break, riding trackwork for around 10 years in Hokkaido before a job with Sydney trainers Peter and Paul Snowden.
