Tommy Söderström (born July 17, 1969) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey goaltender. Career He played in 156 National Hockey League (NHL) games with the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders over parts of five seasons. He also played for Djurgårdens IF, with which he won three Swedish Championships. In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are members of the Metropolitan Division of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Eastern Conference. The Flyers were founded in 1967 as one of six expansion teams, increasing the size of the NHL at that time to 12 teams.
