Tomar Re
Tomar-Re is a fictional DC Comics character, and a member of the Green Lantern Corps. He is also the predecessor and father of Tomar-Tu. The character appeared in the 2011 ''Green Lantern'' film with his voice provided by Academy Award-Winner, Geoffrey Rush. Publication history Tomar-Re debuted in ''Green Lantern'' (vol. 2) #6 in a story written by John Broome with art by Gil Kane. Character biography Tomar-Re was a Xudarian, a race of aliens from the planet Xudar in Sector 2813 (in his first Pre-Crisis appearance he claimed it was Sector 9). He was a scientist on his homeworld before joining the Green Lantern Corps and becoming the Green Lantern of Sector 2813. Tomar-Re became a pivotal member of the Corps, training new members, like Arisia, and serving in the Honor Guard. He investigated reports of abuses of power by Sinestro on Korugar. Abin Sur
Abin Sur is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He was a member of the Green Lantern Corps and is best known as the predecessor of Green Lantern Hal Jordan, whom Abin Sur's power ring chose as his replacement. After the ''Infinite Crisis'' events, details of Abin Sur's past is altered and was revealed to be a brother-in-law of Sinestro and uncle of his daughter Soranik Natu. He was modeled after Yul Brynner. Publication history Abin Sur first appeared in ''Showcase'' #22 and was created by John Broome and Gil Kane. Fictional character biography Originally a history professor on the planet Ungara, Abin Sur is appointed Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814 in the mid-1860s. ''War of the Green Lanterns'' is a 2011 ten-issue American comic book crossover storyline published by DC Comics that spans the ''Green Lantern'', '' Green Lantern Corps'', and ''Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors'' series. It was written by each series' writer, Geoff Johns, Tony Bedard, and Peter Tomasi respectively, and drawn by Doug Mahnke, Tyler Kirkham, and Fernando Pasarin. The story focuses on the human Green Lanterns Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, alien Green Lantern Kilowog, and Guardian of the Universe Ganthet as they face off against their mind-controlled fellow Green Lanterns and stop the renegade Guardian Krona from taking over the universe.
