Toma Ciorbă
Toma Ciorbă (15 January 1864 – 30 December 1936) was a Russian Empire-born Romanian physician and hospital director. Born in Chișinău, then the capital of the Russian Empire's Bessarabia Governorate, after 1918 a part of Greater Romania and now the capital of Moldova, he was the first of six children and his father was a soldier. In 1875, he entered Bessarabia's leading secondary school, and in 1885, he began studying at Kiev University's medicine faculty. In 1893, after graduation, he returned to his native city to work as a physician in the health service. In 1896, he planned and opened an infectious disease hospital, of which he became director. It was the first specialized medical facility in the province, and Ciorbă, in addition to being administrator, worked as a bacteriologist and a teacher to young nurses and midwives. Toma Caragiu (; (21 August 1925 – 4 March 1977) was a prolific Greek-born Romanian theatre, television and film actor. He was born in an Aromanian family from the village of Chroupista (since 1926 renamed Argos Orestiko) in the region of Macedonia in Greece on 21 August 1925. Toma Caragiu was one of the best Romanian actors, with a rich activity in both film and theatre. He liked to play comic characters, but he excelled also in drama, one of his reference films being " Actorul şi Sǎlbaticii". He played alongside great actors such as Ştefan Bănică, Octavian Cotescu, Anda Călugăreanu etc. Toma Caragiu is most famous for his monologues. Toma Bebić
Toma Bebić (November 6, 1935 – February 4, 1990) was a Croatian multidisciplinary artist: musician, writer, actor, painter and poet. During his life he worked as a navy officer, police inspector and journalist for " Nedjeljna Dalmacija" and "Vjesnik". He published six books of aphorisms, few books of poetry and one children's picture book. The book of aphorisms ''Volite se ljudožderi'' (Love each other, cannibals) was published after his death from his unpublished books, manuscripts and tone records. His albums include ''Volite se ljudožderi'' (1975) and ''Oya noya'' (1980). His well-known song is "Tu tu auto vrag ti piz odni" (Honk Honk Car, May the Devil Take You Away) where he criticizes cars for polluting the air and making so much noise that he cannot hear his mule. Thomas of Marga, ( syc, ܬܐܘܡܐ ܒܪ ܝܥܩܘܒ, ') was an East Syriac bishop and author of an important monastic history in Syriac, who flourished in the 9th century CE. He was born early in the century in the region of Salakh to the north-east of Mosul. As a young man he became in 832 a monk of the monastery of Beth 'Abhe, which was situated at the confluence of the Great Zab with one of its tributaries, about 25 miles east of Mosul. A few years later he was acting as secretary to Abraham, who had been abbot of Beth 'Abhe, and was patriarch of the Church of the East from 837 to 850. At some date during these 13 years Thomas was promoted by Abraham to be bishop of the diocese of Marga in the same district as Beth 'Abhe, and afterwards he was further advanced to be a metropolitan of Beth Garmai, a district farther to the southeast in the mountains which border the Tigris basin. András Toma
András Toma (5 December 1925 – 30 March 2004) was a Hungarian people, Hungarian soldier taken prisoner by the Red Army in 1945, then discovered living in a Russian psychiatric hospital in 2000. He was probably the last prisoner of war from the Second World War to be repatriated. Because Toma never learned Russian language, Russian and nobody at the hospital spoke Hungarian language, Hungarian, he had apparently not had a single conversation in over 50 years, a situation of great interest for the fields of psychiatry and psycholinguistics.
