Tom Polo
__NOTOC__ Tom Polo (born 1985) is an Australian artist based in Sydney, New South Wales. His work has been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in several capital cities of Australia as well as in London, England. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) and Master of Fine Arts from the UNSW College of Fine Arts. Awards and residencies Polo was the inaugural recipient of the Parramatta Artists' Studios residency in 2007, and continued to work there until 2014. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia. It is principally funded by direct grants from the Australian Government and is administered by a government-appointed board. The Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA), established as the National Gallery of South Australia in 1881, is located in Adelaide. Archibald Prize
The Archibald Prize is an Australian portraiture art prize for painting, generally seen as the most prestigious portrait prize in Australia. It was first awarded in 1921 after the receipt of a bequest from J. F. Archibald, J. F. Archibald, the editor of ''The Bulletin (Australian periodical), The Bulletin'' who died in 1919. It is administered by the trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales and awarded for "the best portrait, preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in Art, Letters, Science or Politics, painted by an artist resident in Australia during the twelve months preceding the date fixed by the trustees for sending in the pictures". Joan Ross
Joan Ross (born Glasgow) is an Australian artist based in Sydney who works across a range of mediums including drawing, painting, installations, sculpture and video. Her work investigates the legacy of colonialism in Australia, particularly the effects colonialism has had on Indigenous Australians. Early life and education Joan Ross was born in Glasgow, Scotland. She completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree at the City Art Institute and a Masters of Fine Arts, College of Fine Arts, at the University of New South Wales. Career Ross has been exhibiting since the late 1980s. Sir John Sulman Prize
The Sir John Sulman Prize is one of Australia's longest-running art prizes, having been established in 1936. It is now held concurrently with the Archibald Prize, Australia's best-known art prize, and also with the Wynne Prize, at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), Sydney. Criteria The Sir John Sulman Prize is awarded each year for "the best subject/genre painting and/or murals/mural project executed during the two years preceding the losingdate", and as of 2008 is valued at $20,000. Acme Studios
Acme, also styled ACME, is a charity based in London, England which provides affordable studio and living space, residencies and awards for visual artists. Its studios are known as Acme Studios. It formerly provided two gallery spaces, first the Acme Gallery and later the Acme Project Space. History Acme was founded in 1972 by Jonathan Harvey and David Panton, who both received an OBE for services to the arts in 2014. Harvey and Pandon led a group of London graduates, finding at that time there were empty factories, warehouses and other properties available to provide cheap spaces for artists to work and live in, albeit temporary. Cité Internationale Des Arts
The Cité internationale des arts is an artist-in-residence building complex which accommodates artists of all specialities and nationalities in Paris. It comprises two sites, one located in the Marais and the other in Montmartre. Approximately 1200 artists, choreographers, musicians, writers and designers from around the world live and work in the Cité internationale des arts every year. Residencies are generally a year long.
