Tom Neville (politician)
Tom Neville (born 25 September 1975) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Limerick County constituency from 2016 to 2020. He had been a member of Limerick County Council from 2003 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2016. His father is the former Fine Gael TD Dan Neville. He lost his seat at the 2020 general election. A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). It is the equivalent of terms such as ''Member of Parliament'' (MP) or '' Member of Congress'' used in other countries. The official translation of the term is "Deputy to the Dáil", although a more literal translation is "Assembly Delegate". Limerick County Council
Limerick County Council ( ga, Comhairle Contae Luimnigh) was the authority responsible for local government in County Limerick, Ireland. As a county council, it was governed by the Local Government Act 2001. The council had 28 elected members. Elections for the council were held every five years and were by single transferable vote. The head of the council had the title of Cathaoirleach (Chairperson). The county council was originally based at Limerick Courthouse and then moved to County Buildings in O'Connell Street in two stages; Nos. 82 and 83 were acquired in 1911 and Nos. 80 and 81 in 1966. The county council then moved to County Hall, Dooradoyle in 2003. Limerick County Council was also responsible of a large proportion of Limerick city's suburbs. This is a list of the members elected to the 32nd Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (legislature) of Ireland. These TDs (members of parliament) were elected at the 2016 general election on 26 February. That general election took place throughout the state to elect 158 members of Dáil Éireann, a reduction of 8 from the prior number of 166. This followed the passing of the Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2013. The 32nd Dáil convened for the first time at 10.30 am on 10 March 2016. The 2016 Irish general election took place on Friday 26 February to elect 158 Teachtaí Dála (TDs) across 40 constituencies to Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas, Ireland's parliament. The 31st Dáil was dissolved by President Michael D. Higgins on 3 February, at the request of Taoiseach Enda Kenny. There was a reduction of eight seats under the Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2013. Dan Neville
Dan Neville (born 8 December 1946) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician who served as Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party from 2014 to 2016. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) from 1997 to 2016. He was a Senator for the Labour Panel from 1989 to 1997. He was a member of Limerick County Council from 1985 to 2003. Due to the abolition of the dual mandate Neville stepped down from Limerick County Council, he was replaced by his son Tom Neville. Neville first stood as a candidate for Dáil Éireann at the 1987 general election, when he failed to win a seat. He did not contest the 1989 general election, but at the subsequent Seanad election he won a seat on the Labour Panel.
