Tom Moloughney
Thomas Moloughney (23 October 1940 – 6 March 2021) was an Irish hurler who played at club level with Kilruane MacDonagh's and at inter-county level with Tipperary. Career Born in Ardcroney, Moloughney was a member of the Kilruane MacDonagh's club. Having never played minor at inter-county level, he first played for Tipperary in a National League game against Galway in October 1959 after impressive club displays. After claiming the league title, McLoughney's debut season ended with him collecting the first of three successive Munster Championship medals. After losing the 1960 All-Ireland final to Wexford, Tipperary went on to claim the following two titles, with Moloughney lining out in the full-forward line in both those victories. His last appearance came as a substitute in the 1963 National League final. Kilruane MacDonagh's GAA
Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the villages of Kilruane, Ardcroney and Cloughjordan. The club was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and playing field are located in Cloughjordan. The finest day in the club's history was in 1986 when it won the Senior Hurling Club All-Ireland title, defeating Buffers Alley of Wexford GAA in the final by 1-15 to 2-10. The club incorporates many of clubs that existed in the parishes at the time. A forerunner to the MacDonaghs club was the famous De Wets formed in 1900. North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the North Tipperary Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1907 for senior hurling teams in North Tipperary, Ireland. The series of games begins in March, with the championship culminating with the final in August. The championship has always been played using a knock-out format. The North Tipperary Championship was, until recent times, an integral part of the wider Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. The winners and runners-up of the North Tipperary Championship joined their counterparts from the other three divisions to contest the county championship quarter-finals. 13 clubs currently participate in the North Tipperary Championship. Kilruane (''Cill Ruáin'' in Irish language, Irish) is a townland and civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish in the historical Barony (Ireland), barony of Ormond Lower, County Tipperary in Ireland. It is located between Nenagh and Cloughjordan. Sport Kilruane MacDonagh's GAA club grounds are located nearby in Cloughjordan. Buildings of note The ruins of Kilruane Church of Ireland are still standing. Built with the assistance of the Board of First Fruits in 1820, the ruins display some detailed stone work. The 1978 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 88th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. Kilruane MacDonaghs entered the championship as the defending champions. On 15 October 1978, Kilruane MacDonaghs won the championship after a 2–14 to 2–13 defeat of Roscrea in the final at Semple Stadium. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
