Tom Fox (Australian Politician)
Thomas Fox (3 October 1876 – 20 April 1951) was an Australian politician, who was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1935 to 1951. Earlier, in 1902, Fox played with Australian rules football club Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Biography Fox was born in Scarsdale, Victoria on 3 October 1876. By 1903, he had moved to Davyhust in the Western Australian Goldfields with a friend Frank Bourke where both worked in the mines and played football for Mines Rovers Football Club. He later moved to Boulder where he gained interest in the union movement and the welfare of workers. Following injuries he received as a result of a cave in and the birth of his youngest child, he moved to Fremantle and was working as a dockworker. Scarsdale, Victoria
Scarsdale is a small town in rural Victoria, Australia, and approximately 25 km south west of Ballarat. It is situated in the north-western part of Golden Plains Shire, on the bank of the Woady Yaloak River and is primarily an agricultural community. Scarsdale township includes a few community facilities including a primary school, a kindergarten, a general store, Town Hall, Post Office, the Scarsdale Community Park and The Scarsdale Hotel. The township is built along the Glenelg Highway, and the highway is the main route to Ballarat (the closet major city). The Scarsdale-Newtown Avenue Of Honour was established to commemorate WW1. Alexander McCallum (28 October 1877 – 12 July 1937) was an Australian politician. He was the Labor member for South Fremantle in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1921 to 1935. Phillip Richard Lawrence (24 August 1915 – 25 January 1960) was an Australian politician. He was a Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1951 to 1960, representing the district of Electoral district of South Fremantle, South Fremantle. He served with the 2nd AIF in North Africa during the Second World War. The ''Westralian Worker'' was a newspaper established in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in 1900 and published until its demise in 1951 in Perth, Western Australia. History It was established as the ''Official organ of the Western Australian Labor Party'' — with the subtitle of "A journal devoted to the interest of trade unionism, co-operation and labour in politics". In April 1912 it was moved to Perth and was published by the ''Westralian Worker Printing and Publishing Company''. The company also published union books and pamphlets as well as the ''Westralian Worker.'' It was also known as the People's Printing and Publishing Company. The newspaper attempted to balance views between conscriptionists and anti-conscriptionists in World War I, but eventually became a mouthpiece for the anti-conscriptionists.
