Tom Baxter (Australian Footballer)
Thomas Matthew Baxter (23 February 1884 – 8 May 1959) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Football Baxter, originally from Maldon, was a Collingwood premiership player in 1910. In the 1910 Grand Final between Carlton and Collingwood he was reported for striking by umpire Jack Elder, and suspended for the entire 1911 VFL season. Maldon, Victoria
Maldon is a town in Victoria, Australia, in the Shire of Mount Alexander local government area. It has been designated "Australia's first notable town" and is notable for its 19th-century appearance, maintained since gold-rush days. At the 2016 census, Maldon had a population of 1,513. History The district where Maldon now stands was first visited by white European colonialists in 1836, during Major Thomas Mitchell's famous Victorian expedition. It was occupied soon afterwards by pastoralists, and two sheep runs were established in the area, at the foot of nearby Mount Tarrengower. 1912 VFL Season
The 1912 VFL season was the 16th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured ten clubs, ran from 27 April until 28 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Essendon Football Club for the fourth time and second time consecutively, after it defeated by 14 points in the 1912 VFL Grand Final. John Alfred Baquie (10 July 1886 – 1 January 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Baquie, who came to Melbourne from Brunswick, was used as both a forward and rover during his league career. He transferred to Carlton after two seasons at Melbourne and participated in their losing 1909 and 1910 Grand Final sides.
