Tolotta Records
Tolotta Records was a record label run by Joe Lally of Fugazi. It was based in Arlington, Virginia and distributed through Dischord Records. The label has released bands from Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area, such as Dead Meadow and Spirit Caravan. The label was founded in 1994 and came to an end in 2002 when Spirit Caravan broke up and Dead Meadow moved to Matador Records. Shortly after Lally set-up the label, the German label Hellhound Records (who were heavily vested in the Maryland doom metal scene) disbanded, leaving Tolotta to pick up some of the slack.''Doomed from the Start''

The ''Washington City Paper'' is a U.S. alternative weekly newspaper serving the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The ''City Paper'' is distributed on Thursdays; its average circulation in 2006 was 85,588. The paper's editorial mix is focused on local news and arts. Its 2018 circulation figure was 47,000. History The ''Washington City Paper'' was started in 1981 by Russ Smith and Alan Hirsch, the owners of the ''Baltimore City Paper''. For its first year it was called ''1981''. The name was changed to ''City Paper'' in January 1982 and in December 1982 Smith and Hirsch sold 80% of it to Chicago Reader, Inc. In 1988, Chicago Reader, Inc. acquired the remaining 20% interest. Spirit Caravan was an American doom metal / stoner rock band featuring guitarist and vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Biography Scott "Wino" Weinrich formed Spirit Caravan after the breakup of The Obsessed. The remainder of the band consisted of Dave Sherman (formerly of Wretched) on bass and vocals; and Gary Isom (formerly of Unorthodox) on drums. The Obsessed (album)
''The Obsessed'' is the debut album by American metal band the Obsessed, released in 1990 by Hellhound Records. All songs were recorded in 1985 for an intended album for Metal Blade Records, which had never been released. The release of this album prompted singer Scott "Wino" Weinrich to leave Saint Vitus and reform the Obsessed with a new rhythm section. The album was re-released by Tolotta Records in 2000 with new artwork and 10 live bonus tracks recorded at Glenmont Rec. Center in Wheaton, Maryland, on February 25, 1984. It was re-released again on November 17, 2017 by Relapse Records with a slightly updated version of the original artwork. The CD version came with a bonus disc that included the 1984 demo ''Concrete Cancer'', as well as a concert recorded "Live at the Bayou" in Washington, D.C. on April 15, 1985. Stinking Lizaveta is a power trio from Philadelphia. MusicMight categorizes them as "doom jazz". History Their 1996 debut album ''Hopelessness and Shame'' was recorded by Steve Albini. Albini was so impressed by them that he brought them to the All Tomorrow's Parties festival he co-curated in 2004. The band's first two albums were on Compulsiv, and their third came out on Joe Lally's now-defunct Tolotta Records label; later releases have been on At a Loss Recordings in the US and Monotreme Record in UK and Europe. Their most recent release, 2012's ''7th. Direction'', was released via German label Exile On Mainstream. Extensive touring included supporting Clutch on a 2005 US tour.
