Tobias Ide
Tobias Ide (born 1980) is a German strongman competitor and entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition. Biography Ide started with training in 1995. In 2006 he competed for the first time in the final of Germany's Strongest Man where he placed seventh. A year later he would finish in fourth place. In 2008 he became the strongest man of Germany. The same year he was invited for the World's Strongest Man. He finished last in his qualifying heat and did not qualify for the final. In 2009 he finished second behind Florian Trimpl in Germany's Strongest Man. In the 19th century, the term strongman referred to an exhibitor of strength or similar circus performers who performed feats of strength. More recently, strength athletics, also known as strongman competitions, have grown in popularity. These competitions are now composed of a variety of events in which competitors have to move the highest weights possible, the winner being the one having the highest tally across all events. Description In the first half of the 20th century, strongmen would perform various feats of strength such as the bent press (not to be confused with the bench press, which did not exist at the time), supporting large amounts of weight held overhead at arm's length, steel bending, chain breaking, etc. They needed to have large amounts of wrist, hand, and tendon strength for these feats, as well as prodigious oblique strength. World's Strongest Man
The World's Strongest Man is an international Strongman competition held every year. Organized by American event management company IMG, a subsidiary of Endeavor, it is broadcast in the US during summers and in the UK around the end of December each year. Florian Trimpl
Florian Trimpl (born 9 July 1979) is a German strongman competitor and entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition on multiple occasions. Biography Florian Trimpl began competing in strongman tournaments in 2004 at the age of 24. Trimpl rose to international attention with podium finishes in Germany's Strongest Man, culminating in winning that title in 2009. He did not affiliate to the IFSA but instead participated in the World Strongman Cup tours from 2005 onwards. This international exposure led to a 2007 invitation to the prestigious World's Strongest Man. His win in the qualifying heats of that tournament in the Hercules Hold event, in a group containing Mark Felix who has a claim to having the strongest grip in the world, is the achievement he has stated he is most proud of.' Igor Werner (born 22 March 1974) is a German strongman competitor and entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition. Biography Werner started with training in 1997. The first tournament he won as a strongman was the Newcomer Cup in Ditzingen 2001. In 2007 he became Germany's Strongest Man for the first time after placing second behind Heinz Ollesch the previous year. In 2008 he finished second behind Florian Trimpl in Germany's Strongest Man. the same year he was invited for the World's Strongest Man where he finished last in his qualifying heat and did not qualify for the final.
